About Intake/Carb/Fuel System
Fuel and air decide how well a V-twin starts, idles and pulls, and this page covers both ends of the system. It lists carburetor kits, fuel lines and petcocks for older bikes, and fuel pump modules, sensors and air cleaners for fuel-injected models.
Carbureted and EFI parts
Mikuni lists HSR 42mm carburetor kits for Twin Cam and Sportster 1200 engines and a carburetor leak detector for the shop. Motion Pro sells vinyl and Tygon fuel lines in 5/16 and 3/16 inch sizes and fuel vent lines for carbureted V-twins. Harddrive stocks brass petcocks and external EFI fuel lines matched to OEM numbers for Dyna and Touring, and Cycle Pro lists O2 sensors for Softail. All Balls offers a fuel pump module kit for Touring and Trike, and Kens Factory makes Next Level Milwaukee-Eight air cleaners with glass inserts. Moroso lists air/oil separators for Twin Cam bikes.
What to check
Carburetor kits depend on engine type and manifold, and EFI parts depend on year and OEM part number. Replace old fuel line when you rebuild a fuel system, since cracks show up inside hose before they show outside. Parts that change airflow on a fuel-injected bike usually need a tune, so see tuners and engine management. Performance intake parts are sold for off-road and closed-course use only.
