About KPMI

KPMI is a supplier of internal engine components, and most of the catalog here is cylinder head parts. This brand page lists valves, valve guides, seats, springs and a few related items for Harley-Davidson engines from Panhead to Milwaukee-Eight.

Cylinder head parts

Valves come in Black Diamond and White Diamond coatings, with intake and exhaust versions for Evolution, Twin Cam 88 to 103, Milwaukee-Eight and Panhead. Valve guides include cast iron and bronze types in standard and oversize steps such as plus .001 and plus .002 inch. Exhaust valve seats are listed for Milwaukee-Eight Touring with dimensions in the title. H.T. steel retainer valve spring kits, including a .625 lift kit, round out the head parts.

Other items

KPMI also lists cylinder stud kits, and a handful of exhaust and tool items. These are not decorative parts: they are aimed at rebuilds and performance work.

Before you order

Valve parts depend on engine family, displacement and head design. Measure guide and valve stem clearances, and check seat dimensions. Use a machine shop for guide installation and seat cutting. Treat these as race and off-road components, and keep the old valves and guides until you have confirmed the new ones fit, since clearances are tight. A fresh set of valve seals, springs and gaskets belongs in the same job. See engine upgrades and piston kits for the rest of the build.

KPMI FAQ

What are Black Diamond and White Diamond valves?
They are KPMI valve lines. Check each listing for material and application.
Do I need oversize valve guides?
Only if your guide bores are worn or you are fitting oversize stems. Measure first.
Are Milwaukee-Eight parts available?
Yes, including intake valves, valve seats and spring kits.
Do valve seats need machining?
Yes. Seat installation and cutting should be done by a qualified machine shop.
Is a tune needed after head work?
If airflow changes, a fuel-injected bike generally needs one.
