About Maxima

Maxima has a long track record in motorcycle lubricants, and its V-twin line is built for the high heat and shared-sump designs of air-cooled engines. This brand page lists Maxima oils, kits and shop products for Harley-Davidson and Indian.

Oils and kits

Engine oils are formulated for V-twins, and separate fluids cover the primary and transmission. Primary Oil is designed for wet primary and diaphragm clutch systems, and Heavy Duty 85W-140 transmission oil is available for gearboxes. V-Twin synthetic oil-change kits and Quick Change kits include a filter, chrome or black, for Milwaukee-Eight and Twin Cam Harleys.

Tools and care

Maxima also lists shop tools and some cleaning and chain products. Each product label notes the model and application.

Using the right fluid

Check your manual for oil grade and capacity. Primary and transmission fluids differ, and mixing them can cause shifting and clutch problems. Warm the engine before draining, replace the filter and gaskets, and dispose of used oil properly. Check the level on the dipstick or sight glass after the first start, and look for leaks around the drain plug and filter. Keep records of the date and mileage so you know when the next service is due. If your bike sits in the garage, change the oil before storage instead of after. See chemicals, oil filters and tools for the rest of a service.
