About Seat
A good seat does more for a long day on the bike than almost any other change. This page focuses on seat shapes from Danny Gray, with solo, 2-up and heavier touring designs for Harley-Davidson models across several generations. For Mustang saddles, backrests and pads, see the dedicated brand page.
What is on this page
Danny Gray provides the bulk of the list, including the Weekday solo and 2-up, Shorthop 2-up, TourIST leather in XL, Speedcradle solo for Touring 1997 to 2007, and IST technology seats for Softail, Road King, Street Glide and Road Glide. Wild Ass lists Smart Classic seat cushions for Touring and Softail, and Harddrive and Burly Brand add small related items such as sissy bars. Fitment spans Touring years from 1997 onward, Dyna 2006 to 2017, Sportster 2004 to 2021 and the 2024 Street Glide and Road Glide.
Choosing a seat
Decide first whether you ride solo, two-up, or both. Check the model and years, since the tank shape and mounting changed over time. Taller or heavier riders may want an XL, and shorter riders often like a lower profile. If you already have a seat you like, a gel cushion can make a stock seat bearable on long rides.
Add backrests and sissy bars if you carry a passenger, and consider Mustang seats for another take on touring comfort.
