About Tubes
Tubes are what keep air in spoke wheels and many classic rims, and a worn or pinched tube is a common cause of a flat. This page lists inner tubes in front and rear sizes for Harley-Davidson, Indian and other V-twin bikes.
Brands and sizes
Sedona makes the largest group, with motorcycle tubes in sizes such as 4.00/4.50-16, 4.50/5.10-17, 4.50/5.10-18 and 170/80-15, plus Performance Heavy Duty tapered tubes with TR-4 valve stems. Michelin lists off-road and dual sport Ultra HD tubes, a Street tube and a 100/100-18 size. IRC offers a heavy duty 80/100-21 tube. Counteract supplies tubes with balancing beads built in, in sizes such as 3.00/3.50-12 and 5.00/5.10-16 with a TR-87 valve stem.
Choosing the right tube
The tube size must match the tire size marked on the sidewall. Tube sizes list a range, such as 4.50/5.10-17, so make sure your tire falls inside it. Check the valve stem type as well, for example TR-4 or TR-87, because rim hole and clearance vary. Always inspect the inside of the tire and rim for sharp edges, and use a rim strip on spoke wheels so the tube is not cut by spoke nipples.
Pair a new tube with a fresh tire and the right wheel accessories such as valve stems and rim strips.
