Windshield/Windscreen

A windshield changes how a long ride feels. Too tall and you look through a distorted view, too short and you take wind on the chest. This page lists replacement and aftermarket windshields and windscreens for Harley-Davidson and Indian models, in clear, smoke and dark smoke tints.

What is available

National Cycle has the largest range, with VStream windscreens for Road Glide, Street Screen bar-mount windshields, Heavy Duty Low Boy windscreens and a Spartan quick-release kit for Indian Scout. Slipstreamer lists replacement windshields from 8 to 15 inches, for Touring years such as 1986 to 1995, 1996 to 2013 and 2014 and up, and a 12 inch clear shield for Indian Chieftain. PUIG adds screens for other fitments.

Choosing height and tint

Pick a height that puts the top of the screen at about eye level or slightly below, so the airflow goes past your helmet instead of buffeting it. Smoke and dark smoke look sleek and reduce glare, but may reduce clarity at night, so many riders prefer clear. Fairing-mounted shields are model specific, while bar-mounted shields fit by bar diameter. Always check the model line.
