I guess you get what you pay for, but still paid too much.
I had to adjust the clutch side grip by trimming off some material so the switchgear housing would close completely. Definitely not plug and play. <br />I haven't done the throttle side yet because I decided to go ahead and replace the throttle and idle cables at the same time and most websites won't narrow down to one selection when I put in my bike's specific information. Will probably have to go visit a dealer and get OEM cables.<br />These are also chromed plastic which wasn't clear in the description.
Great But Needs Filing
Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't close my switch housing completely with the clutch side grip installed. Seems like it's just a bit too big so I'm going to have to shave it down to get it to fit right. It's possible I just got a faulty set but a little disappointing. Bike is a 2011 Sportster Superlow<br /><br />Besides that, the grips feel good in my hands, a lot better than the grips I took off, and I chose these because they can easily be removed and swapped to a different set of bars.

I've always thought the stock grips on Harley-Davidson motorcycles were too big (diameter) for most people (at least me) to have a comfortable secure feeling hold on the handlebars. I looked for a set of grips that were smaller than stock and found them in these Avon grips. Though they are only 3/16" smaller than stock, they feel so much better in my hand (and I don't have small hands). My finger span from the tip of pinkie to tip of thumb outstretched is 9+ inches, and crease of wrist to tip of middle finger is 8-1/4". I've taken a few rides with these new grips and they feel great going down the road. I don't feel like I always have to be adjusting my grip to have a firm control feel. I like the blacked out look, and the aluminum caps on both ends adds some good style. The rubber portion of the grips is textured just enough for my grip to feel absolutely non-slip, but yet comfortable, without digging into your palm. These are great grips. The only issue I had with them was that I had to carefully trim the "shelves" on the clutch grip to make it fit perfectly inside the housing. If I hadn't trimmed them, the housing would not come together as designed. It was an easy fix, but takes some care and time to not overtrim.
Avon custom contour grips
Avon custom contuor grips are nice , really good looking and top quality. However they are a little small about 1 1/4”compared to average Harley grips at 1 1/2”. They are also not soft at all, they are very hard but they are also very grippy. So if grippy hard and narrow grips are what you want then these are the ones for you. Myself I’ll probably change them out for the Avon 1 1/2” memory foam grips.

Great grips. I’ve had the. Before and am replacing them due to an accident that tore them up. Only issue I have is that the left, clutch side grip has a plastic portion that protrudes for mounting to a modern control setup. If you’re running an older Shovelhead clutch perch like I am it says to cut that off. It’s almost impossible to do that cleanly without scratching the chrome… wish they just made different versions.

Perfect fit on 2001 Dyna wide Glide, no glue required for clutch side. Comfortable grip and hands seem to stick to it nicely improving confidence during the ride. Installed in about 20 minutes after I found the brass ferrule that I dropped, try not to lose those when disassembling the old ones is the only advice I have.<br />Plastic construction but does not feel cheap.<br />Avon does have an installation video that is very helpful and to the point.

I never had Avon grips on any of my bikes and will say that I was not disappointed. Great quality, easy to install, and comfortable. There is a contour but doesn't interfere with how my Throttle Boss fits.

Great feel while riding. Completely removes that factory “sticky” rubber feel and these grips reduce vibration as well.
These grips worked out very well for us. Removing larger diameter grips and replacing with these helped my wife’s comfort level greatly. Her smaller hands now have excellent reach to clutch lever and brake lever and also superior stiction of grip has her holding bars more comfortably without a ‘death grip’ and she may relax while riding. Excellent fit and quality.

Fit on my 06 FXWGI dyna wide glide. Clutch side grip went on well, But i had to Tighten the housing pieces a little extra so the completed assy would not rock. The Throttle side was much smoother. I made sure to Adjust the two cables for a perfect snap back. The Grip feels good. Still need to try it out on the road but I see no issues.

Overall the grips were good. I have Avon grips on my 1st bike so i knew I wanted them for my 2nd one, but I was disappointed that they felt semi cheap and were made of plastic. They look great on the bike, but just don't feel as well made as my other set.

Time to replace those plain stock grips? With most alternatives over $100, these are certainly worth a look. Comfortable, attractive, and easy to install, the only thing keeping these from five stars are the misleading name: if there's any contour to them, it's too subtle to feel - they're perfectly cylindrical, and I was hoping for some swell to fill the palm. Also a caveat: if you have big mitts, be aware that these are much more slender grips than stock. I have small mitts though and am quite happy with these grips.

I have absolutely no complaints about these grips and that comes from experience with a pair over the last two years on one set of bars. Now I have new bars and went with what I know and what I like.

Grips are awesome. Look great, feel great and have a great price. You can’t go wrong with these. They do need a good wash before putting them on, they have a sticky glue substance on them but it comes off easy.
i made slight mod to left grip for proper fit. but was easy install and look great.
My dad bought these for his girl “Nelly” one hour after he put them on he got killed on his precious Nelly these got buried with them! The best around!

I like the grips. They feel good on the bare hand and also work well with gloves. I was on an all day ride and only then did I feel that the grips were a little small. Not the fault of Avon . I wanted smaller grips, but now I know to purchase a different grip next time.

I like the grips however after only 5k miles they show plenty of wear and the end piece on my left hand grip has come off. It is a shame, they worked well and were comfortable.

Grippy rubber helps to save your hands on longer rides by not having to grip the throttle so tightly. The size is good for those with smaller hands.

Great product for the money. Said they were an exact fit for my bike, but once you install them you cannot access air valve in handlebars.
These Avon grips seem to have been made for the "all day" rider. Grips could be a bit softer, but makes for a easy long day on the bike.
