Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my half helmet?

No — Packtalk Edge is designed for full-face and modular helmets only. Half helmets lack the internal space needed for proper speaker and microphone placement.

Can I add a second headset to pair with this one?

Yes. The Packtalk Edge is part of a compatible ecosystem. Order the second helmet kit (part 71-5046) to add another unit and enable intercom between riders.

What microphone options come with it?

Both a boom microphone and wired microphone are included. You can switch between them depending on your helmet fit and preference.

Is this compatible with other Cardo headsets?

The Packtalk Edge is compatible with other devices in the Packtalk Edge line. Check compatibility with older Cardo models before pairing.

Basic Features Are Very Good & Some Marketed Features Are Not Ready For Primetime

The Cardo Edge has some flaws that negate some marketed features. I have raised the issues to the support team, but support is the terrible and they won't even acknowledge that issues exists. In short the Cardo Connect app can not be used if you use two Bluetooth channels for pairing (e.g. phone + TFT) because the app uses one of the channels. Additionally the pairing of the second channel invalidates the first channel pairing. You can work around the issue by pairing the second channel first as a phone and then pair the first channel (but you can't use the app).

In terms of use, the buttons are very small and hard to find even with thin summer gloves. Another let down is Music playback. I thought it would be significantly better with the JBL speakers as compared to my old Sena 20. But its a minor improvement and not even close to a decent set of wireless headphones.

However, there are positives. The device has good looks and the magnetic mount is great. The mesh intercom works very well and is very clear. Phone calls are also very good and mic + software is good at keeping noise out. Also I have been able to get Apple Siri and the "Hey Cardo" to work and use voice commands for almost all actions (this helps with the small buttons).

If you have a simple setup and will only use one Bluetooth channel, the Edge will work great. If you have a more complex setup, e.g. TFT/GPS + Phone, and want to also use the app you may want to consider other options.

The good and bad

The experience for rider intercom is very good. The experience with the app leaves a lot to be desired. Have learned that with iOS devices, you have to start the app, wait for it to search for devices, then turn the Cardo Packtalk Edge on, or you may never get the Cardos to connect to the app. This is a complete pain. The audio quality for music is very poor and rather tinny sounding no matter the settings. Since my primary use is for intercom, I?m happy with this purchase.

Well worth the money!

Teaching the wife how to ride. These are a game changer for that. Also makes the riding experience so much more enjoyable when we can freely communicate with one another.

As far as quality, I was surprised at the audio quality and volume. Even through ear plugs I can hear it loud and clear. I don't even actually have the volume turned all the way up. The features that include the ability to connect to your phone and listen to music while you ride and still be able to communicate is nice as the volume automatically lowers as soon as someone starts to talk. You can also do "music share" which allows others to listen to your music with you if you choose.

App needs to be fix for music sharing

3 stars for the frustration it caused me for weeks to figure out how to sync music to the passenger. If you are as frustrated as me here is my tip. DONT NO USE THE APP TO SYNC share music
follow these steps for success.
Step 1. Link them both up in group in DMC (you can use the app for this)
Step 2. Turn on the driver and passenger to bluetooth (holding the up and down together 2 seconds)
Step 3. pair both headsets in bluetooth mode only ( hold the up button only for 2 seconds on both)
Step 4. Switch them both back to DMC (press and hold the up and down again to switch on both helmets)
Step 5. play music on the driver headset
Step 6. hold the up button for a second and listen for audio synced)

you should now be able to share your spotify music together

thank me at cashapp
WIZARD1325

Regret purchasing Cardo

My experience with Cardo has been horrible. Do your research consumers. Unfortunately I didn't realize how many battery issues Cardo has with their units. I spent $700 on a Packtalk Edge Duo set and the battery of one of the units was faulty immediately, direct from the factory. Cardo's customer service has been horrible. I've sent four emails to their Customer Support over the last 5 days and they have gone unanswered. Speaking to someone on the phone is nearly impossible. In total, I spent more than an hour and a half on hold before someone answered. When someone did finally pick up, she was impolite and rushed through the entire conversation. She would not give me specifics on the status of my unit or when my replacement unit would be sent out. During the conversation when I asked for her name she hung up the phone. I was initially told I would receive the replacement unit in a "max of 5 days". That time has come and gone and I still have no unit. Not even a date as to when it will be sent. Delivering faulty units from the factory is awful, but the customer service at Cardo is just as bad. At this point, I'm seriously regretting my choice to purchase Cardo Packtalk Edge units.

Great product

First of all i wished i had bought this sooner. It is quite expensive but it's irreplaceable with regards to being able to communicate with riders. Speakers are actually quite good, not bose level but good enough to enjoy music. there is a bit of a learning curve but overall it's easy to use. Battery life is exceptional. At high speeds sound quality is diminished but expected.
