Great product
This was the perfect solution to the half helmet situation I was having. The standard mic that comes with the CARDO is too short to reach your mouth properly. This mic fits perfectly. There is a new helmet clip you attach that replaces the original one. This is really nice so that the solution has a clean, streamlined look (also for wind resistance). The mic foam piece is also larger than it?s original one because you?re more exposed. So far comms are working great and people can hear me fine even at 50-60 mph without tone of wind noise. Great product!
Nothing to hear?..
this half helmet kit is almost USELESS?. It's a microphone attached to the Edge base with a single 2-prong plug/harness coming out of it. That's it. It's pitched as a way to swap your radio from another helmet, but HEY CARDO how about you at least mention that a rider also needs to figure out how to get some speakers or headphone to work with it too???!??
Cheep kit with no speakers
Cardo Half Helmet kit for the PackTlak Edge: i just received the Edge half helmet kit today and was looking forward to installing it on my helmet. I opened the kit and found no speakers and no adapter plate. Very cheep! Plan on buying speaker?s.
Not everything you need
I'm really upset about this product. It says this is what you need for a half helmet, no where does it state you need to also purchase a second cardo set to receive the mount and speakers. Therefore if you purchase this, you will need to also purchase the 2nd helmet kit to be able to mount it to your helmet. It's a grand total of $218.00. You can't purchase the second hemet kit alone as the microphone is not the correct one. It's their way of making you buy more. Cardo, you should include the mount and speakers in this kit. Poor form for sure. Otherwise we love our Cardos.

Box should show that for 1/2 helmet you need the ear pads. As shown only fits a 3/4 helmet. Bad labeling.
Great product - not a 2nd helmet kit
I purchased this to be able to swap my Cardo Edge between my full face and half helmets. First, let me say this is not a complete 2nd helmet kit. This does not come with speakers or the cradle, both being required. If you are using this as a 2nd helmet kit, you must purchase the speakers and cradle separately. Not a big deal at all, but this is not listed anywhere on CG's website or on Cardo's website, and Cardo refused to answer my 3 emails over a 3 week period to confirm any of this, so I did this by trial and error. If this is for an only helmet, the Edge comes with everything else already. If this is for a 2nd helmet, you need to get the speakers and cradle separately, both available through CG.<br /><br />As for the product itself, this works great. The boom mic is very soft and flexible, with a very long arm. Place the mount appropriately on the helmet so the boom mic doesn't wrap all around your face. I fed the boom mic through the helmet straps to help secure it so it doesn't blow all around from the wind. Make sure your half helmet has pockets in the straps for the speakers. Due to the extra wind noise from the half helmet, the 45mm speakers are recommended for a little more volume. This works great, and even at highway speed, phone calls are crystal clear for the rider and the person on the other end of the phone. I have not used my Cardo as an intercom yet, but I know it will be perfect.
Half Helmet kit review
Works as intended but like others have noted, perhaps is a little deceiving by calling it a half helmet. To most purchasers, that infers it will be all inclusive to make a half helmet functional. Unfortunately, that is not the case. One must also buy another complete cardo unit with speakers, base, etc. Actually, if listed as a boom mike for half helmet applications, that might clear up any confusion on making the unit complete for half helmet usage. Also, as far as installation goes, it should be noted that most half helmets are constructed in a way that the lining is glued to the shell and one must cut a discreet hole or opening in the ear flap webbing to run the speaker wires - purchased separately- to hide them. Other than that, works just fine.

I use this on a modular helmet because I wanted a longer microphone. Works well. I have been using Cardos for 15 years with great success.

I purchased this half helmet microphone because Harley threw in a Cardo Edge with the purchase of a new bike. It was a 3/4 helmet mic. The new half helmet mic was perfect and is providing excellent quality communications.

Using this mic on my 3/4 helmet / works great
Used this mic on my 3/4 helmet. I like it much better then the supplied mic that comes with the Packtalk system. This mic is built into the stick on baseplate. For me, it is much better then using the original Velcro attached mic which is mounted under the cheek pad.
