Get 2 or 3 just in case: I tried using one out of an auto-parts store variety pack that was the correct inner diameter, but the outer diameter wasn’t correct. I assembled the whole motor (1970 sportster, XLCH) and bolted it back into the frame but didn’t check for binding. The auto parts snap ring was just slightly larger and interfered with the recess in the bottom oil pump cover binding the motor. Experience, but I got these and it worked great.
