Great product; too short to block wind
Looks nice, but way too short to be an effective windshield. Even at in-town speeds it felt like no windshield at all.
National Cycle has manufactured motorcycle windshields in Illinois since 1937, using its own hardcoated Quantum polycarbonate. Windshield choice affects wind noise, buffeting and fatigue more than most riders expect, and National Cycle publishes real height and coverage data to get it right.
The National Cycle Switchblade Chopped Windshield in clear is engineered for Harley-Davidson Softail models, offering a streamlined profile that's sportier than a full-size shield. This windshield provides excellent wind protection for riders who prefer a lower sightline or a more aggressive aesthetic. It's designed to reduce wind fatigue without overpowering the classic lines of your cruiser.
For Softail owners looking to strike a balance between style and function, the National Cycle Switchblade Chopped Windshield delivers. Its re-contoured top and trimmed bottom profile create a distinctive look that's noticeably shorter than traditional touring shields. This design not only enhances the visual appeal of your Harley but also provides a comfortable pocket of air for a more enjoyable ride, whether you're cruising city streets or hitting the highway.
This Switchblade Chopped Windshield is designed to integrate seamlessly with your Harley-Davidson Softail. However, it's crucial to remember that the mounting hardware is sold separately. To ensure a perfect fit and to utilize the quick-release functionality of the SwitchBlade system, you'll need to purchase the appropriate mounting kit for your specific Softail model. This allows for easy attachment and removal, letting you customize your ride's look and feel on the fly.
Is the mounting hardware included with this windshield?
No, the mounting hardware for the SwitchBlade Quick Release system is sold separately. You will need to purchase the correct mounting kit for your specific Harley-Davidson Softail model.
How much shorter is this windshield compared to a standard size?
The Switchblade Chopped windshield is designed to be 4-5 inches shorter than the full-size 2-UP Switchblade windshields, with a re-contoured top and trimmed bottom profile.
Will this windshield provide enough wind protection for highway speeds?
While shorter than a full touring shield, this chopped windshield is designed to provide excellent wind protection and reduce turbulence, especially for riders with lower saddle heights or those who prefer a more open-air riding experience.

Installed on a 2013 FLS Harley Davidson.

Pros:
- Very good looking on the FLS model.
- I no longer need to put on an eyes protection while riding within the city.
- The windchill is way less severe now.
- Easy on, easy off.

Cons:
- Wind buffeting is crazy out in the highway.
Highest quality apparent in every aspect. Be sure to unlock before mounting. Unit is shipped locked. Good wind break without dominating the appearance of the bike. Mounted on '12 FLS.
