Don't bother - Buyer beware

This is my second UV cover from Nelson-Rigg. The first one lasted nearly ten years of daily use before it finally wore out so I didn't hesitate to just order the exact same model for use on the same bike. When the new cover arrived I first noticed that it no longer had the additional layer of black material on the inside of the cover and felt much lighter weight. Sadly the new cover began to rip in less than a month. It's continued to shred and now needs replacement after less than a year of use. What a shame. Somewhere along the line NR went cheap and it shows in the product. Personally I'd gladly pay a bit more for quality.

Recommend

I purchased this as a rain/dew cover for an upcoming week long trip. I ordered an XL for a 2012 Multistrada with top case and side cases. Goes over the top case and windshield fine. Haven't had the side cases on yet but it looks like it will cover the tops of them with me running a bungee underneath to hold in place. If it doesn't go over the cases its not a deal breaker for me, I was more interested in covering seat and cockpit area. It has some built in straps including a couple that loop over the foot pegs. It packs up small in its own bag. Don't think its heavy enough for year round use, but perfect for occasional use.

Perfect for my needs

I purchased this cover to use while at work and potentially on the road. I purchased the XL to use with my KTM Super Adventure S. It is working perfectly for my needs so far, and if it lasts 1-2 seasons, as others describe, I'll be very happy in terms of value. I'll describe some of the features which stand out in my use.

Pros:
1. Very lightweight, packs small. This is crucial so that it can always be with me, and not take up much space in the luggage. While constructed of very lightweight material, initial quality seems high.
2. Amply covers the upper fairing and cockpit, seats, and SOME luggage. It covers the top box (though gets saggy in the middle when doing so, and would not ALSO cover side bags), covers over half way down the rear wheel if NOT using any luggage, and covers all of both saddlebags if the top box is NOT in use.
3. Very easy and quick to deploy.
4. Its half-length configuration mean that you may not need to worry about engine or exhaust heat damaging it. I don't have time to wait for the bike to cool when commuting.
5. Very affordable, and a good value as long as it lasts at least 1 and preferably 2 years. I ride year-round so let's see!

After about 1.5 months of intermittent use (winter commuting several days a week), there are no real "cons" for me to report, as long as certain things are kept in mind.
1. This is light on features and is made of very lightweight material. This is not a cover that will fully conceal your ride, and I wouldn't plan to leave it as the only covering on the bike if stored outdoors long-term. This is a plus for me, because I need it to be compact, but note this is NOT a fully-featured long-term cover.
2. There are no provisions for locking the cover. It's secured by two stretchy loops on each side. I'm using one set to secure the cover to the rider's footpegs and not using the other pair, though I would probably find a place to secure them if it was a very windy day.
3. The material doesn't appear very heat-resistant, in case it contacts any of your engine or exhaust system, though because it's a half cover, it probably usually doesn't.

This cover warrants 5 stars for my use, which prioritizes compactness and value while protecting my ride from light precipitation and more importantly in my part of the world, UV damage.

Bought XL for 2016 BMW R1200RT

Great half cover for the price! I bought size XL for a 2016 BMW R1200RT with no top case and it fit great. Folds down pretty compact.

Get the XL for sure. I almost bought a L and glad I didn't.

Perfect fit!

Fits (Large) my Tiger 900 Rally with a top box. I love the fact I can put it on a hot bike in about 30 seconds, perfect for commuting to work.
