Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my 2006 or earlier Sportster XL?

No — this kit is specific to 2007-2016 model years. Earlier Sportsters require a different Ohlins cartridge.

Can I adjust compression and rebound while riding?

Yes. All three settings (compression, rebound, and preload) have external adjusters that allow on-the-fly tuning.

What suspension work is required for installation?

Professional fork service is recommended. You'll need to remove the fork legs, drain the oil, disassemble the internals, and install the NIX 22 cartridge kit.

How does this compare to factory Sportster forks?

The NIX 22 delivers more controlled damping and adjustability than stock Sportster forks, improving stability and comfort at both low and higher speeds.

WOW! What a difference. 1 Drawback

What a difference these made. Night and day. I went for a 50 mile ride with my stock suspension that on a 2011 is a bit old. However, just replacing these I could tell the difference pulling out of the driveway. Over bumps, I no longer feel like I'm going to lose the rear. Potholes and small bumps I no longer launch off the seat. Very easy to install and adjust. My one and ONLY gripe is they do not have rebound adjustment on them. I use my 1200N mainly for commuting and my race bike for my speed so these fit the bill nicely.

Put the sport back in Sportster

Excellent shocks. Put the 12" on my '22 Evo 48 and couldn't be happier. The bike completely smooths out small bumps that used to rattle your teeth. The extra inch of travel is very noticable when going over larger bumps. Lean angle has increased a little as well. Feels planted and more confident in the corners.

If you're debating 12" or 13" go with the 13. The height increase with 12 is noticable unladen if you're looking for it. And with the propper sag it's almost unnoticeable when riding. I reckon the increase in travel with 13s is worth it.
