Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.
Transform your Harley-Davidson's ride with Progressive 412 Series shocks, engineered for smooth, consistent damping. These units feature a durable double-wall steel body and nitrogen-charged, multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving. A five-position preload adjuster lets you dial in the ride height to perfectly match any rider weight or load.
The Progressive 412 Series shocks are a proven upgrade for Harley-Davidson owners seeking enhanced ride quality and control. By utilizing nitrogen-charged damping and multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving, these shocks deliver a responsive and predictable feel across varied road surfaces. This advanced design helps absorb bumps and maintain tire contact, giving you greater confidence whether you're carving canyons or cruising the open highway.

Common questions
Can I adjust the ride height with these shocks?
Yes, the 5-position cam-style preload adjuster on the Progressive 412 Series shocks allows you to easily dial in your preferred ride height and stiffness based on your weight, passenger, and riding style.
What is the benefit of progressive rate springs?
Progressive rate springs offer a softer initial travel for comfort over small bumps, and then become firmer as the suspension compresses further, providing better control and bottoming resistance for larger impacts or heavier loads.

A really nice shock for the $
I bought these for my '06 FLHR and could not be happier. I'm 6' 275 lbs so I went with the heavy duty option. Took about 30 min. to change shocks and the ride has improved considerably, took the jolt out of hitting heaves in the road.

Fell apart just outside of progressives 1 year warranty.
While removing the rear wheel for some other service they just quite literally fell apart in two pieces leaving me with a garage floor full of suspension oil and one unusable shock. Spoke with their warranty rep who told me in so many words that its not their problem. Dissapointed to say the least.

Worth it
So far loving these, the ride is much smoother and an awesome look. Going for the 12" was a good choice, raised it but not too much.
