About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Achieve a lowered stance on your Harley-Davidson without compromising ride quality with Progressive 412 Cruise shocks. This chrome version brings a classic custom look, while the hybrid spring design ensures full suspension stroke. Enjoy improved handling and aesthetics for your Touring, Softail, or Dyna.

Why riders pick this

  • Lowered stance with full suspension travel
  • Hybrid spring design for smooth performance
  • Five-position preload adjustment for precise tuning
  • Gas-charged for consistent damping
  • Brilliant chrome main spring finish

Progressive 412 Cruise shocks are engineered to give your Harley-Davidson a lower profile while maintaining excellent suspension travel. The innovative combination of a flat-wire spring and a progressive main spring allows the 12.5-inch shock to sit like an 11.5-inch unit when loaded, yet still utilize its full stroke when encountering varied terrain. This means you get the best of both worlds: a custom lowered look and the performance needed for real-world riding, all finished in brilliant chrome.

Optimized Ride and Stance with Chrome Finish

  • Achieves a lowered stance without compromising full suspension travel
  • Dual-spring design for a smooth ride and effective damping
  • Five-position preload adjustment to fine-tune your ride
  • Gas-charged damper for consistent performance
  • Brilliant chrome main spring for a classic custom look

Dial In Your Ride

Whether you're cruising city streets or tackling twisty roads, the Progressive 412 Cruise shocks offer the adjustability to match your riding style. The five-position preload adjuster makes it easy to dial in the spring rate, ensuring optimal comfort and control for solo rides or when carrying a passenger and gear. These shocks are a solid upgrade for any Harley-Davidson owner looking to enhance both the aesthetics and performance of their motorcycle.

Common questions

Will these shocks lower my Harley-Davidson?

Yes. The hybrid spring design makes the 12.5-inch shocks sit and feel like an 11.5-inch shock under the bike's weight, effectively lowering your stance without compromising suspension stroke.

Can I adjust the ride for different loads?

Absolutely. These shocks feature a five-position preload adjuster, allowing you to easily dial in the spring rate to accommodate solo riding, a passenger, or luggage.

What Harley-Davidson models do these shocks fit?

These shocks fit various Harley-Davidson Touring, Softail, and Dyna models. Please verify your specific year and frame type using our Shop by Bike tool to ensure compatibility before ordering.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
