About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Progressive 412 Series shocks deliver proven suspension performance for your Harley-Davidson, combining a durable build with advanced damping technology. These shocks are designed to provide a consistent and controlled ride, making them an excellent choice for riders seeking to improve their bike's handling and comfort. They are a reliable upgrade that will make a noticeable difference on the road.

Why riders pick this

  • Proven suspension performance with nitrogen charging
  • Multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving
  • 5-position cam preload adjuster for easy tuning
  • Durable double-wall steel construction
  • Standard or Heavy-Duty spring rate options
  • Available in chrome or black finishes

Enhance your Harley-Davidson's ride with the trusted performance of Progressive 412 Series shocks. Featuring a robust double-wall steel body and high-pressure nitrogen charging, these shocks ensure consistent damping across all riding conditions. The multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving intelligently reacts to road imperfections, providing a smoother, more stable ride and reducing rider fatigue on long hauls.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
