Nice improvement over factory shocks.
Larger piston, better springs and improved dampening all make for a more stable ride, especially in corners, not to mention how much better the 412's look on the bike. Add Progressive springs, Bel-Ray oil and Speed Merchant Pre-Load adjusters to the front shocks and you have one nice handling Sportster.
A must addition to any Sportster
Was unsure if the Heavy Duty version #412-4011C was going to be right for my XL1200C Sportster. Having being 60 and just under the 250+ lb rating for the heavy duty service @ 220 lbs solo riding I found that at the lowest pre-load setting they functioned beautifully. Was actually able to experience the ride the other day unexpectantly traveling over a street that was extremely in need of repair. Very pleased with my purchase and glad that I bought the Heavy Duty version of the Progressive Suspension 412 Series Shocks
Great shocks, easy install. Lousy packing. Shock box was great but they put it in a larger box and broke open from Louisville KY to Ft Myers FL. Lucky nothing was missing. Need more stock at Daytona location.

13" standard 412 shocks on FXR. i think the heavy duty would of been a little better choice for my bike.

These shocks are probably the best upgrade I've done for my bike yet. They're comfortable and have the right amount of stiffness for a sportier ride. As always revzills customer service is the best!

This is the 3rd set I've bought in 21 years. The ones i just replaced lasted 11 years of hard riding on crappy road conditions!

Quality shocks
Bought the Progressive 412 shocks to replace the stock shocks on my 2003 Sportster Hugger. The factory shocks did exactly what their name implies-shocked. Ever bump went right up my spine. These 412s were immediately noticeable for the improvement in ride quality. They went on very easily, and fit as well as the stock ones. I went with a 1.5 inch increase in length and it had the expected effect of raising the seat which made it more comfortable for my 33 inch inseam. The side stand is a little short now, but not enough that Im afraid the bike will topple over. Given our no-ride circumstances at present, I havent ridden much with the new shocks, but the ride quality was easy to feel. Dont know about longevity, but Progressive has a good reputation. I recommend these completely.

I like these style shocks. They'll go great with the scheme. They're already on it,which helps my clearance with the bigger back tire. Just can't my sporty yet because it's not finished.
Sportster progressive shock upgrade
So much better than stock although these are slightly longer. I should have thrown away the lousy OEM suspension years ago. I can’t wait to see how much better the progressive fork springs make my ride! I only rated durability and quality medium because there was no “I don’t know yet” category but if their longevity is anything like the ride quality I am sure it will be a 5 star rating.

Day and night difference in riding comfort. Huge improvement over the old OEM air shocks. They felt like an old tractor. Easy to install, look great. These smooth the road and make the ride ache free. I was absolutely brilliant for buying them.
So I got these shocks to replace my air ride suspension to make it more comfortable for my old lady to ride. I ordered the 13” ones and super easy to install. It lowered the ride height a couple inches and was able to flat foot when I’m on the bike without making any adjustments. So far it feels like The RK is able to corner better and the shocks are softer than the air ride suspension I previously had. I’ll be riding from San Diego all the way to Texas and will update if there are any issues. But all in all, very satisfied with these progressive shocks. 🤙🏽

Install was easy, got 13.5in suspension and put them on a 2020 iron 883. Honestly completely changed the bike for the better. I used to scrape pegs and the bottom of the bike on everything. Now I can corner and turn way harder. Bike handles like a dream now. Great product
Shocks are correct for the application and come with bushings, washers and instructions that are simple and complete. I set the spring height per instruction and got about 80 miles on my 83 FXRT before Wyoming weather forced me to shutter in. So far so good at mid spring rate setting.<br />The reason for not giving these shocks 5 stars is the snow drift between the garage and the street.
Shocks seem fine, fitting kit comprehensive, only thing is they could have included a chrome fitting kit with the chrome shocks
The difference between OEM HD shock’s and these new Progressive Shocks are day and night. Especially with the Mrs. onboard. No more bottoming out.
Ordered these to replace the Stock Air shocks on a 2003 Road King FLHRI. Based my choice on other reviews and so far so good. Love the ease of working on this bike. Had installed in 30 minutes. Major difference in the ride.
Much needed on my 95 sportster. Raised rear of bike 3 inches and I now have suspension. 1/2 hour start to finish.

These shocks are a godsend. I have a 2003 883 custom and every single bump in the road my spine was definitely inches away from breaking. These make my ride so smooth and I don't have to worry about bumps, dips or potholes anymore. <br /><br />Also. Installation was super easy. Took about 45 minutes and 2 root beers. All in all easy installation. Amazing product.

I love them. <br />But the $400.00 Dollar seat that I've only sat on maybe 20 time at most, has already lost two buttons. <br />Kind of disappointing.

The shocks are awesome, but beware; I think the weight rating is a bit conservative. If your gonna run more than 215-225, you need the HD springs.

Haven’t rode the bike yet as I’m getting ready to rebuild front forks and waiting on exhaust. The look is 100% better than the stock and just by sitting I know the stiffness I was looking for is there.

Excellent shocks and quick delivery
great product for the money. Completely changed the ride of the bike. Had problems with bottom out from original shocks, progressive shocks not only raised the bike but gave it a smoother ride. would recommend this shock to anyone wanting to lift their bike while gaining a smoother ride.

Needed to lower
I needed to lower my 1200 sportster. Could put both feet down, but just didn't like the feel. Had original 13.5 inch shocks. I went with 11.5 and made all the difference. Bike also rides way smoother now. Was thinking of changing out the seat also, but she rides so nice now not sure if I need to now lol.
Should have done this a long time ago. Best ride I have had in 20 years on this ultra classic.
The suspension upgrade to my ‘95 883 Sportster was long overdue. I fitted std weight Progressive springs and standard spring-weight shocks. I weigh about 200lbs. Anyway, it was only after riding for a while that I noticed that the bike is handling much much better! A great improvement. The wallowing, jarring over bumps & all round nastiness of the tired front springs and knackered rear shocks was gone. Progressive suspension highly recommended. PS. Fork spring fitting - pretty straightforward. When fitting the shocks, I used a straight edge to the top & bottom mounts, to work out the spacer positioning and ensure the shocks were fitting vertical/parallel to each each other. Take care with the offset top and bottom mounts,

Great shocks. I've waited a year to write the review, as I wanted to see how they worked out. They are an excellent value, are easy to adjust, and look great. One thing that I really like is that I can adjust the shocks to different settings based on the weight of the rider of of my base setting.... EXCELLENT DESIGN!

Shocks work great.
Shocks fit as advertised. Wish the coil over spring had a higher spring rating but will see how the lighter spring does on my Goldwing trike.
Works great on shields on bike visor bugs clean off good leaves protecting layer spray on end of rides and it's ready for the next run, Good Stuff
Installed these shocks on my ultra glide the day before a 1,050 mile trip. The bike rode better then it ever did. Very happy with these shocks. I am probably going to get a pair for my road glide.
Received quickly, and installation was a breeze. Great so far, only 2 miles of use though.

NOT an exact fit, I had to use the spacers to make it fit. I like the shocks though.
A bit stiff but very much better than the shorties that were on it.
Installed these and Race Tech front fork springs, (had those shortened an inch), and now that big Ultra Classic handles like a dream. I can now handle my bike with ease. I'm a shorter guy, so moving the bike in the garage and parking spaces was a chore.

Just received the 2019 J & P catalog and these shocks are priced at $269. Why was I charged $299.?
giving these shocks a 3 rating for now. Bought the same ones in chrome years ago and shortly after warranty was up, one began leaking. A year or so later, the other started leaking. I would not consider again except that they are American made which I support

The shocks were on backorder when I ordered them, but still arrived within a week after the order was placed. A black and chrome pair was ordered and they look very nice and high quality. Installation was easy and the instructions that came with the shock indicated what bushing to use with my bike. I called Progressive with a question and found out the weight limit for the standard rate spring was up to 250# for the rider, so I'm glad I called or might have ordered the heavier spring. Very nice ride on the lowest spring rate and on the middle spring rate when riding two up. Overall, a much nicer ride than with the stock shocks.

Very easy install. The ride improvement is like night and day. Should have done this awhile ago. Definitely recommend this install plus the heavy duty fork springs. Both together is like riding a new bike with much better handling than original.

Beautiful finish, INCREDIBLY stiff. I realize being 1 1/2" shorter than stock they would need to be stiffer but not only have they never bottomed out on the lowest setting, it takes a lot to make them move at all (and I ain't no light weight). Far too rough riding for a 60 year old. I will be sending my factory air shocks to get lowered and sell these to somebody younger than me.

A noticeable improvement
Not the best riding shock, but a great value and exactly what I was looking for.
After messing up the first order by not getting the correct length. If you purchase these which I highly reccommend there are 3 lenghts available make sure to check yours first. Although JP howver as always was quite responsive with assisting and expediting the correct ones. The quality of these shocks is excellent and as far as the ride and handling on my 05 Sporty now all I can say is WOW. Between the new rubber on the front and rear that I put on a couple of weeks ago and these shocks. Its like a totally Different Bike!!

I paired these shocks with progressive suspension drop in lowering springs. my sporty handles better than stock and the suspension is firmer while still preserving ride quality. worth every penny.

I put these on a 1998 Sporster 1200C. I am 6'3" and about 240 lbs. The difference is night and day. No more bottoming out and my ride is actually safer now. My rear tire sticks to the road better while accellerating through corners that are bumpy.

Nice shocks. A lot better then the OEM. Even on the lowest (softest) setting I have not bottomed out riding on the same bumpy roads the OEM did on the stiffest setting.

I replaced the air shocks of my 2005 FLHTCI with the Progressive 412 Series Shocks. The price was actually less than the stock replacements, and I'm not a particular fan of air shocks. My OE shocks failed at approx. 28,000 miles, completely unacceptable. So far, the 412s are awesome. J&P's service is second to none. I always know exactly when my order will arrive, because J&P communicates with me after the order. Thanks!
Fairly easy to install. Looks good. More importantly, works excellent. Installed on '06 Sportster. I'm 250 and OEM shocks were too soft at highest setting. These are perfect on lowest and give great ride on #3 when the wife is on back. I highly reccomend.
Easy to install. Instructions were thorough and am happy with they way they function. I replaced leaky air shocks with these shocks and am happy with the results.
These shocks transformed the handling of my '89 Sportster and I can go two-up with luggage without bottoming out. Now I have to upgrade the front end to match.
