About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Progressive 412 Series shocks deliver smooth, consistent damping through a gas-charged, multi-stage velocity-sensitive design. Housed in a durable double-wall steel body, these shocks are built to perform.

Why riders pick this

  • Smooth, consistent damping from multi-stage valving
  • Nitrogen gas charged for enhanced performance
  • Durable double-wall steel body construction
  • Five-position cam-style preload for easy adjustment
  • Available with standard or heavy-duty springs

Experience a noticeable improvement in ride quality with Progressive 412 Series shocks. These units provide consistent damping thanks to their high-pressure nitrogen gas charge and multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving. Whether you're cruising or pushing your V-twin, the 412 Series offers a straightforward upgrade that enhances control and comfort on any Harley-Davidson.

Dial In Your Ride

  • Multi-stage velocity-sensitive damping for consistent performance
  • High-pressure nitrogen gas charged for fade-free operation
  • Durable double-wall steel construction for long-term reliability
  • Five-position cam-style preload adjuster for quick tuning
  • Available with standard or heavy-duty progressive springs

Engineered for the Road

The 412 Series shocks are designed for riders who demand better handling without unnecessary complexity. The accessible cam-style preload adjuster allows you to fine-tune the ride height and stiffness to match your weight or riding conditions, ensuring optimal performance whether you're solo or two-up. These shocks are a solid foundation for any rider looking to elevate their Harley-Davidson's suspension.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
