About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Experience a smoother, more controlled ride on your Harley-Davidson with Progressive 412 Series shocks. These shocks feature a double-wall steel body, nitrogen-charged internals, and multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving for consistent damping. Riders can choose between standard or heavy-duty progressive rate springs and dial in their ride with a five-position cam preload adjuster.

Why riders pick this

  • Smooth, consistent damping performance
  • Durable double-wall steel construction
  • Nitrogen-charged for reliable operation
  • Choose from standard or heavy-duty springs
  • 5-position cam preload for easy adjustment

The Progressive 412 Series shocks are engineered to transform your Harley-Davidson's suspension, offering a significant upgrade in both comfort and control. Their robust design, coupled with advanced damping technology, ensures that your bike responds predictably to varying road conditions. Whether you're navigating city streets or carving canyons, these shocks provide the stability and feedback a performance rider demands.

Superior Damping and Customization

  • Double-wall steel damper construction for enhanced durability
  • Nitrogen-charged for consistent, fade-free damping performance
  • Multi-stage velocity-sensitive damping adapts to different impacts
  • Available with standard or heavy-duty progressive rate springs
  • 5-position cam-style preload adjuster for easy ride tuning

Built for Your Riding Style

With options for both standard and heavy-duty spring rates, the Progressive 412 Series shocks can be tailored to match your specific riding needs, whether you're a lighter rider or frequently carry a passenger and gear. The intuitive 5-position preload adjuster makes it simple to fine-tune your suspension for optimal performance and comfort, ensuring your Harley-Davidson is always ready for the road ahead.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
