About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Improve your Harley-Davidson's ride with Progressive 412 Series shocks, engineered for reliable suspension performance. These shocks feature a durable double-wall steel body and nitrogen-charged, multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving. A five-position cam-style preload adjuster lets you effortlessly tune the ride for your specific weight and riding style.

Why riders pick this

  • Reliable and consistent suspension performance
  • Durable double-wall steel body
  • Nitrogen-charged for fade-free damping
  • Multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving
  • 5-position cam preload for easy adjustment

The Progressive 412 Series shocks are a proven upgrade for Harley-Davidson riders seeking better control and comfort. By replacing the often-underperforming stock units, these shocks deliver a more predictable and stable ride. The combination of robust construction and advanced damping technology ensures your V-twin handles bumps and dips with greater composure, making every ride more enjoyable.

Advanced Damping for Superior Control

Optimized for Your Riding Style

Whether you prefer a softer cruise or a firmer, sportier feel, the Progressive 412 Series shocks can be easily adjusted to match. The intuitive 5-position cam preload adjuster allows you to dial in your preferred stiffness, accommodating changes in rider weight, passenger load, or road conditions. This adaptability makes them a versatile choice for any Harley-Davidson owner looking to elevate their riding experience.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
