About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

The Progressive 413 Series shocks offer a straightforward and effective upgrade for your Harley-Davidson's suspension. Designed for dependable performance, these shocks enhance comfort and control for various riding conditions.

Why riders pick this

Common questions

How do I adjust the preload on these shocks?

The five-position cam-style adjuster allows you to change preload easily without tools. Simply turn the cam to one of the five settings to match your weight and riding style.

What is the difference between Standard and Heavy-Duty options?

Standard shocks are suitable for typical rider weights, while Heavy-Duty springs are designed to handle heavier riders, two-up riding, or carrying significant luggage, providing optimal support and preventing bottoming out.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
