2003 Fat Boy Improvement Project.
These shocks are beautiful. I am handy but not a professional mechanic and had these installed in just over thirty minutes, and oh my - the ride is amazing. A real improvement to this 2003 Fat Boy.
Would not buy again.
Ordered these shock 6/21/2021 and thought I was getting better-than-stock shocks. I don't ride hard but one of the shocks blew out 3 weeks ago. They didn't even last 2 full years, even the finish peeled off.

These really shouldnt be that expensive. Theyre very very good though. Amazing for handling. Ride quality is good for how slammed I have my bike. Every time I raise it up it gets more comfortable. I would recommend these for people who ride hard. and ride twisty roads. It just takes a bit for you to find how you like your preload set. But I can tell you if you want a decently lowered look and still want good enough ride quality this is for you. If you want your bike slammed and to ride like a hard tail this is for you as well just have patients
Easy install , tough removal
Better than stock, need.to adjust for little softer ride. Installation was ok. Its a difficult place to work , even with a lift. Shocks did fit as described. Process to order was excellent and delivery was prompt. Thank you
What a difference!
The ride difference from the progressive shocks versus OEM shocks night and day! Handling of the bike has improved and feels more stable. If you work on your own bike installation, straightforward, Good instructions. Just to let everyone know there is a torque wrench adapter socket that snap-on sells That allows you to torque your bolts properly. You can buy this online For about $80.00. You will also need a torque calculator to get the right torque.
these shocks as awesome on my 2003 heritage softail, smooth ride. highly recommend.

Great riding Softail
My girlfriend rides a 2016 Softail S. The problem is her height. I lowered her bike 1 1/2 inch. The stock rear Showa shocks caused the bike to ride like a Hard Tail. I installed the Progressive shocks on her bike and she loves it. She said it better then it ever did even at stock height. Plus it was so easy to adjust the ride I could custom tune it to her. I highly recommend these shocks.
Installed these on my 2003 Fatboy. Much better ride and really like the fact you can adjust the height as well.

These progressive 422 shocks are a dream, excellent ride and function. Only wish I hadn’t waited so long to purchase and install.
Great shocks
Got the standard duty to put on a 14 breakout since I don't ride with a passenger and the ride quality is so much better. It's a good chunk of coin for these but if your wanting to lower the rear and have great ride quality that you can adjust to exactly what you want, you gotta pay it. Install wasn't bad and lowered the rear close to 1.5 inches. Once I made the right adjustments, I never bottomed out and felt much more stable and planted in the turns. The preload adjustment ranges from very bouncy to near hard tail firm so no problem finding that perfect setting. If you ride with a passenger on a softail, you're probably gonna want the heavy duty version especially if you lower the rear somewhat.
Nice ride
I had the bike out for a solo trial run and did notice the stiffness due to the heavy duty spring option that I chose. Then me and the wife went for a ride and both of us noticed a better ride.<br />The install was what I expected and went well. Torquing the rear bolts with some blue thread lock and a few whacks on the wrench with a hammer.

Dropped my bike about 2" and stiffened the ride to a near rigid feel with a little cushion on the bumps. Just what I wanted

Day and night difference between stock shocks and these. 5/5 starts for sure. BUT DEFINITELY SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY ON THE RAP. Nothing is more annoying then ro make a mini project every time that you need to change the settings for heavier or lighter weight.

Far far superior to the stock shock…if you have a bad back you will not mind the expense I got heavy duty installed them…left everything at factory setting bike felt like it was glued to the road on the curves…hit bumps that killed my back before the 422’s now the bike floats over it…easy to install we did it with the bike about 6 inches off the ground….primary side you got to play with Jack a little to get it out of the way so you can have room for the wrench…rear bolts…heat,hammer,and a nice muscular thigh muscle and they are quite easy to remove….took us about an hour and 20 to complete…again well worth it.
Better than stock. But of a pain to dial in though.
Also much improvement over stock, kind of a pisser to install, factory lock tight on studs fought all the way, did not use a lift.
Love these shocks! I know I'm repeating a point made by another reviewer, but it's worth restating. They seemed a little stiff at first, but after you ride for a couple hundred miles you realize that you are only really feeling the big bumps and the small ones that you used to avoid you don't feel anymore. Large bumps you still feel but they aren't as harsh as the stock shocks are. I put these on a 2002 FLSTCI and added Monocore shocks in the forks as well. Made the bike more responsive when cornering, smoother when cruising, and more stable under heavy braking. My only regret is not having bought them sooner.
So far so good. They went on easily which is a plus. Unfortunately weather and home projects keep me from putting miles on but I will...oh I will!
Fit was perfect, and rides like a dream. The rear suspension on my softail now feels better then my 2018 Road Glide. This is a very well made product. I highly recommended Progressive shocks and lowering the ride height really made the bike look and ride much better.

Terrific improvement over 8 year old stock shocks. Not hard to install, but it was easier having a motorcycle lift vice doing it at ground level. Some very good YouTube videos made this install easy to take on. Super ride…should have done it sooner!

Great upgrade suspension
Great shocks. Replaced OE on my 2000 softail i recently got, and the ride is buttery smooth now. Had a problem with bottoming out at stock height with the old shocks. I have them set at about 50% preload and dropped the rear 1", and I don't come close to bottoming out anymore even with me and full packs on. Install was easy, hardest part was lifting my bike to adjust final position.

Progressive 422 Shocks For Harley Softail review
A bit of a pain to put on the bike (my 2012 softail slim) they are adjustable and very well made. A good alternative to the softer OEM shocks. I swapped out at ~ 20K miles on the bike and they offer a generally stiffer ride (I am 165 pounds).

The product was perfect and easy to install. Except the nuts for the rear were so incredibly tight to remove from blown shocks and install again. I'll have to take my bike to the dealership to adjust the suspension. Instructions and video weren't clear.
