About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Unleash the full potential of your Indian Scout with Progressive 444 Series Shocks. Engineered with proprietary Frequency Sensing Technology (FST), these shocks dynamically adjust damping in real time, adapting to every road imperfection you encounter. Experience a ride that's both comfortable and confidently controlled.

Why riders pick this

  • Frequency Sensing Technology (FST) for dynamic damping adjustment
  • Progressive-rate springs handle varying road conditions smoothly
  • Hand-adjustable preload for easy tuning without special tools
  • Deflective disc valving for consistent, responsive performance
  • Designed specifically for Indian Scout models

These Progressive 444 Series shocks are designed to transform your Indian Scout's handling. The advanced FST system means your suspension is constantly optimizing itself, providing a plush ride over small bumps and firm control when hitting larger obstacles. This intelligent damping system works without any input from the rider, letting you focus on the road ahead.

Intelligent Damping for Superior Ride Quality

  • Frequency Sensing Technology (FST) automatically adjusts damping to road input
  • Progressive-rate spring design effectively absorbs both small and large bumps
  • Hand-adjustable preload allows for easy tuning without special tools
  • Deflective disc valve design provides consistent, responsive damping performance

Engineered for the Indian V-Twin Rider

Whether you're cruising city streets or tackling winding backroads, the Progressive 444 Series shocks deliver a noticeable improvement in ride quality and stability. The straightforward preload adjustment makes it easy to dial in your preferred feel, ensuring your Indian Scout performs exactly how you want it to. These shocks are a direct bolt-on upgrade, enhancing your ride without complex modifications.

Do I need special tools to adjust these shocks?

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
