About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Optimize your 2006-2017 Harley Dyna's suspension with Progressive 494 Sport Series shocks. These shocks are built on a high-pressure monotube design with deflective disc damping and progressive-rate springs, delivering consistent performance for both street and sport riding. Enjoy a more controlled and comfortable ride, perfectly tuned to your preferences.

Why riders pick this

  • High-pressure monotube for consistent damping
  • Deflective disc damping for precise control
  • Progressive-rate spring for adaptable performance
  • Hand-threaded preload for easy adjustments
  • Adjustable rebound damping for tailored ride

The Progressive 494 Sport Series shocks are a direct upgrade for 2006-2017 Harley Dyna models, designed to significantly enhance your bike's ride quality. Featuring high-pressure gas monotube construction and advanced deflective disc damping technology, these shocks provide precise control and predictable feedback. The progressive-rate coil springs, combined with an engineered jounce bumper, effectively absorb road imperfections and prevent harsh bottoming out, ensuring a smoother, more confident ride.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
