About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Achieve a lowered stance on your Harley Touring or Softail without sacrificing ride comfort or suspension travel with Progressive 944 Ultra Touring shocks. These shocks are engineered with patented FST damping technology and progressive-rate springs, delivering a superior ride tuned specifically for touring loads. Enjoy a confident, lower profile both while riding and when parked.

Why riders pick this

  • Lowers bike by 1 inch while maintaining full travel
  • FST damping technology for superior ride quality
  • Progressive rate springs tuned for touring loads
  • Hand-adjustable spring preload, no special tools needed
  • Available in Standard and Heavy Duty spring rates

The Progressive 944 series shocks are a game-changer for riders who want to lower their bagger or Softail while maintaining premium suspension performance. Unlike other lowering options that compromise travel, the 944s provide a full inch of drop without bottoming out, ensuring a smooth and controlled ride even when fully loaded. Their design helps riders flat-foot their bikes more easily, enhancing confidence at stops.

Comfort and Control for the Long Haul

  • Progressive rate main springs optimized for touring weight
  • FST damping technology for an optimum ride quality
  • Hand-adjustable spring preload requires no special tools
  • Maintains full suspension travel with a lowered stance
  • Available in Standard and Heavy Duty spring rates

Engineered for Harley-Davidson Touring and Softail

Whether you're riding solo or two-up with luggage, the 944 Ultra Touring shocks provide the stability and plushness you expect from a premium touring setup, making long rides more enjoyable and less fatiguing.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
