About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Drop your Harley-Davidson Touring model by 2 inches with Progressive 944 Ultra Low shocks, designed to give you that aggressive stance without compromising ride quality. These shocks integrate advanced technology to deliver a compliant and controlled experience.

Why riders pick this

  • 2-inch lowered ride height for a custom look
  • FST damping automatically adjusts to road conditions
  • Progressive-rate springs for optimal touring performance
  • Hand-adjustable preload for quick tuning
  • Available in Standard and Heavy Duty options
  • Proudly manufactured in the USA

The Progressive 944 Ultra Low shocks are the go-to choice for riders seeking a significantly lower ride height on their Harley Touring. Engineered with Frequency Sensing Technology (FST), these shocks intelligently adjust damping to road conditions, ensuring a comfortable ride over varied terrain. The progressive-rate main springs are specifically tuned for touring geometry, providing excellent support and stability whether you're cruising solo or with a passenger.

Slammed Stance, Smooth Ride

  • Frequency Sensing Technology (FST) for responsive damping

Confidence in Every Mile

With the 944 Ultra Low shocks, you'll immediately notice the improved confidence at stops and a more connected feel to the road. The FST system works seamlessly to deliver comfort when you need it and firm control when the road gets rough. These shocks are a direct bolt-on upgrade, making it easy to achieve a custom look and enhanced performance. Select the appropriate spring rate for your typical riding load to optimize performance.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
