About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Achieve a 1-inch lowered stance on your Harley-Davidson Touring model with Progressive 944 Series Ultra Touring shocks, all while maintaining full suspension travel for maximum comfort. These shocks are built to perform, whether you're cruising or carrying a full load.

Why riders pick this

  • 1-inch lowered stance with full suspension travel
  • FST technology for dynamic damping adjustment
  • Progressive-rate springs tuned for touring comfort
  • Hand-adjustable preload, no tools needed
  • Available in Standard and Heavy Duty options
  • Proudly made in the USA

The Progressive 944 Ultra Touring shocks are engineered for the discerning Harley Touring rider who wants a lower profile without giving up an inch of ride quality. Featuring Progressive's patented Frequency Sensing Technology (FST), these shocks dynamically adjust damping to provide a smooth ride over varied road conditions. The progressive-rate springs are specifically tuned for the weight and demands of touring, ensuring stable and comfortable performance.

Lowered Look, Uncompromised Ride

  • Lowers Harley Touring by 1 inch while maintaining full suspension travel
  • FST technology dynamically adjusts damping for optimal ride
  • Progressive-rate main springs tuned for touring weight and load
  • Hand-adjustable spring preload, no tools required
  • Available in Standard and Heavy Duty spring rates

Built for the Open Road

These shocks are a game-changer for any Harley Touring owner. The 1-inch drop provides a more aggressive stance and easier ground reach, both while riding and when parked. The FST damping ensures that your ride remains plush on smooth roads and firm when encountering bumps, making every mile more enjoyable and controlled. Confirm your exact year and model with our Shop by Bike tool to ensure perfect compatibility with your specific chassis, and choose the appropriate spring rate for your typical riding load.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
