About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

This Progressive bushing replacement kit is designed for 1984-1999 Harley-Davidson Softail rear shocks. It allows you to restore worn or cracked bushings without the expense of buying entirely new shocks. One kit provides all the necessary components to repair a pair of shocks.

Why riders pick this

  • Replaces worn or cracked OEM shock bushings
  • Restores ride quality and suspension response
  • Direct fit for 1984-1999 Harley-Davidson Softail models
  • One kit repairs a pair of rear shocks

Over time, the rubber bushings in your Harley-Davidson Softail's rear shocks can degrade, leading to a noticeable decline in ride quality. This Progressive replacement bushing kit offers a cost-effective solution, letting you refresh your existing shocks and bring back that tight, responsive feel. Instead of replacing the entire shock unit, you can target the specific wear point, saving money while improving your bike's handling.

Restore Your Ride Quality

  • Replaces worn or cracked factory shock bushings
  • Designed for direct fitment on 1984-1999 Softail models
  • One kit services a complete pair of rear shocks
  • Helps eliminate unwanted play and improve suspension response

Maintain Your Classic Softail

Keeping an older Softail performing its best means addressing common wear items. These replacement bushings are an ideal upgrade for riders looking to maintain their classic Harley-Davidson's suspension integrity. While installation requires basic mechanical skills to access and replace the bushings, the process is straightforward for anyone comfortable working on their bike, ensuring your Softail continues to deliver a smooth ride.

Will this kit fit my 2000 or newer Softail?

No, this specific kit is designed for 1984-1999 Harley-Davidson Softail models only. Newer Softails use different suspension components.

Is installation difficult?

Replacing shock bushings requires basic mechanical skills and appropriate tools for safely compressing and disassembling the shock assembly. If you're unsure, professional installation is recommended.

Will do the job

In terms of quality these are 4, but the kit I got(30-5011), didn't come with the metal bushings that is pictured here, because of that it took longer to install these as I had to use the old bangged up ones

Check the part number

Too small, and did not fit, but big enough to damage them getting them back out, no steel inserts, Im sure I just ordered the wrong number, stupid internet.
