About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

This Progressive Monotube fork cartridge kit is specifically designed for Harley-Davidson large touring models, dramatically improving front-end performance. It replaces the stock fork internals with advanced damping technology, engineered to reduce brake dive and enhance overall stability. Experience a more controlled and confident ride, especially through corners and over rough pavement.

Why riders pick this

  • Monotube design for superior damping performance
  • Reduces front brake dive for increased safety
  • Improves front-end stability and control
  • Enhances cornering ability on touring models
  • Better resistance to bottoming out

Riders of Harley-Davidson touring bikes know the challenges of a soft front end, particularly under braking or when navigating twisty roads. This Progressive fork cartridge kit provides a significant upgrade, transforming your bike's handling. The monotube design ensures consistent damping, while improved bottoming resistance means fewer harsh impacts, making long rides more comfortable and spirited riding more enjoyable.

Enhanced Touring Performance

  • Monotube design for consistent, improved damping
  • Reduces front-end brake dive for better control
  • Enhances front-end stability at speed
  • Improves cornering control and predictability
  • Offers better bottoming resistance than factory forks

Confidence for the Long Haul

Installing this Progressive fork cartridge kit means a more composed and predictable ride, which is crucial for touring models carrying extra weight or covering long distances. While a full fork internal replacement is a more involved process than a simple spring swap, the performance gains are well worth it. Many riders opt for professional installation to ensure optimal setup and performance, guaranteeing your touring rig is ready for any road ahead.

Common questions

Will this kit fit my specific Harley Touring model?

This kit is engineered for Harley-Davidson large touring models on the FLH platform. We recommend confirming your exact model year and fitment with the Shop by Bike tool before ordering.

Do I need a fork rebuild kit to install this?

This is a complete cartridge kit that replaces your existing fork internals. Installation requires disassembling your forks, and while a rebuild kit isn't strictly necessary, professional installation is often recommended for best results.

How much stiffer will my front end feel?

The kit is designed to provide improved damping and spring support, which will make the front end feel more controlled and less prone to excessive dive or wallow compared to stock, without being overly harsh.

Terrible ride

These were worse than stock. They were super stiff and rode terribly. I was looking for a softer ride that would soak up the bumps and it did the exact opposite. Would never recommend these to anyone. I am 150lbs for reference.

Night and day

Unbelievable difference from stock 2014 forks suspension. Progressive monotubes were worth every penny and I should’ve done it last year. It’s like riding on a cloud now compared to back jarring pain over every surface irregularity. Don’t hesitate, by them and be done with it. Enjoy your

I wanted to get the legends to match the rear i purchased prior however these much less money with great reviews. But almost 400 miles on them and i am very pleased. Much better than stock. No more dipping hard with braking and acceleration.

2015 Road Glide Special 1? lower Cartridge Kit. I installed it!

I personally installed these 1? lower over stock Cartridge Kit in my 2015 Road Glide Special. I also changed my fork lowers to Chrome at the same time. It was a lot of work but SO WORTH IT!! It went from a Cadillac to a Corvette suspension wise. I would do it all over again.

Put them on a 2016 Roadglide special. Huge difference how bumps feel at the handle bars. A week later I put progressive 944’s on the back! Unbelievable! I never would have believed someone if they told me it could make such a difference ! Highly recommend both!

Glad I made this purchase!

I wasn't satisfied with stock suspension at all. I didn't like the front end dive on my 15 Ultra Limited or the way it chattered over ripples on some of our awful roads. Progressive Shocks eliminated my two biggest gripes with the OEMs. I'm very satisfied. I have not ridden on any other after market suspension so I can't compare these v Ohlins etc. For the money, I'm very happy with this purchase.
