Not as stealth as I had hoped
I installed on a 2015 Ultra Limited. I wasn't looking for a modified look and didn't want to be troubled with rain getting in so I picked this product because it can use the stock cover. I also ordered the 1077564 adapter for the stock cover.<br /><br />Installation wasn't too bad but for sure, it will take you at least 30 minutes to get those allen screws out of the stock bracket. The filter itself bolts up nicely and all of the parts are there. The instructions could be clearer, a picture that you can actually see some detail would be nice. <br /><br />My disappointment is in the final look. It can use the stock cover and it looks stock, from across the street. When you look closer, you see that the cover no longer has anything to fit against. The black plastic back isn't there which leaves the cover just kind of hanging out there. It's secure but not quite stealth. Then there's the black rubber that fits on the chrome cover. Without that plastic back, there's nothing to hold it on. I like the black around the edge of the chrome so I used a hot glue gun to secure it. Only time will tell how effective that is. On mine, there were boogey lights attached behind the cover. I had to relocate those again with my handy hot glue gun. <br /><br />First time I hit the starter, it backfired through the intake which concerned me, but it has not happened since. I can hear some additional noise from the intake and there may be some performance improvement but since I never clocked it on a track I can't prove that. It certainly isn't a huge difference.<br /><br />I'm a plumber with lots of tools but definitely not a motor head. I managed to pull this off but it takes some time if you don't want to scratch anything. I'm a little disappointed in the stock cover not looking quite as stock as I had hoped. I may have never noticed on someone else's bike before, but now that I did mine, I'll be able to pick it out easily if you pull up to me at a traffic light.
