Great Tires
Not sure who said these don’t perform well in wet, these perform better than my old MC3s did. I have 12,000 miles on these and rode in snow, ice, and rain. I ride all year on my 2014 RG special, these tires are incredible.

Appear to be quality tires…we shall see
Looks are 5 stars. Tire date of manufacture is less than 6 months ago. Rubber feels like they have good friction all across the surface. We’ll see this spring on the mountain roads of the Carolinas and Tennessee. Can’t beat the price, hoping for similar performance to the michelins I’ve been running on for years.

Great Tires! Buy them!
Great tires! Don't know if I would buy any of the other Shenko tires, but took a chance on these since these are a new compound and manufactured in their new factory. Have a few thousand miles on the front and rear and these are great in all conditions and show almost no wear. More traction in the twisted than I thought I would get. Way better than my Dunlop Elites!

So far, so good.
I purchased the 999 after disappointment in the 777. (5100 miles)
The 999 looks as good as the Dunlop Elite OE. (9,200 miles)
The 999 installed easily. The 1 problem I had was a valve stem mark, missing on the tire. There was a light stamp, not at all like any other tire I've installed. Tire seated without any help device.
I'll be back to tell the mileage I get from it.

Shenko Long Hauls
The long hauls replaced a set of Harley Davidson Dunlop tires. These were on a 16 Road King. I was less than happy with the ride and the noise was annoying to say the least. The long hauls ride wonderful. They are responsive and thus far have been wearing very nicely. Dunlops will never go back on my bike again.

Above average tire at a reasonable price point
Overall a good tire. It rides a bit firmer and more controlled than the 777HD. High speed use is very linear and resists following road irregularities. They are very quiet on road. Grip seems on par with the 777HD even though it's a firmer tire. Overall behavior is better than a Dunlop 404 or Pirelli Route 66. The Bridgestone Exedra Max are a better overall tire, but at a higher price point. I'd recommend these tires for any cruiser. They are above average, especially for the price point.

Shinko 999 Tire Review - 10,000 Mile Update on a Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE
Running a 80/90B21 front and a 160/70B17 rear. My Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE is set up for long-distance, mile-munching duty. Traditionally, I've leaned toward premium sport touring tires like the Michelin Road 6, but rising prices have made me look for more budget-friendly alternatives. Enter the Shinko 999; a tire that's proven to be a true sleeper in terms of performance and longevity.

Current Mileage & Expected Lifespan
At 10,000 miles, the rear tire is still going strong, and I estimate I'll get about 15,000 miles total before it's time to swap it out. That's nearly double the life I typically get from a sport touring tire in the same size. The 80/90B21 front tire is holding up equally well and will likely be due around the same time, which is impressive for a $94 tire.

Performance Overview
Ride Quality: The 999 rides smooth and confidently. The bias-ply construction adds a plush yet controlled feel at highway speeds.

Cornering & Feedback: The compound strikes a great balance; soft enough for predictable cornering and solid grip, yet wears like iron over long hauls. Feedback is smooth and consistent.

Comparison: It reminds me of the Michelin Commander 3 in terms of handling and longevity, but at a fraction of the price.

Balance: One of the standout features is how well-balanced these tires are out of the box; I didn't need any weights during installation.

Pros
Price: For under $200 on the rear and $100 on the front, it's tough to beat the value. Especially when considering it lasts as long; or longer, than many "premium" options.

Bias-Ply Construction: Offers a stiff, stable sidewall, great for touring and loaded-up riding. Feels nothing like the old-school bias tires from yesteryear.

Tire Life: Honestly stellar for a tire in this price bracket.

Handling: Smooth, predictable, and comfortable on long rides; exactly what you want when knocking down big miles.

Versatility: Might even last longer on lighter bikes, though heavier ones may see slightly less life.

Cons
Cold & Wet Traction: This tire does not like cold or wet conditions, especially on a torquey bike. My tuned Scrambler with its 5:1 lbs:hp ratio can easily overwhelm the tire in slick or cold conditions (sub 40' F).

In wet or cold weather, I run the bike in Rain Mode to tone down the power and keep things manageable.

Not a Performance Tire: While it handles well, don't expect sport tire grip in aggressive riding or high-performance scenarios.

Weight: It's hefty, hard to hand mount and weighs significantly more than something in the radial flavor.

Final Thoughts
If you're looking for a cost-effective tire that delivers excellent mileage, balanced handling, and stability, the Shinko 999 is an impressive option. It's not a wet-weather warrior like the Road series from Michelin however with caution in mind it will perform well enough. For dry pavement touring and daily duty, it's a tough tire to beat for the money. I'll likely be buying another set when these hit their limit; and for the price, that's an easy decision.

Bought a set of these Shinko 999 over 4,000 miles ago for my 2006 Harley Street glide and I love them! Hardly notice much wear on them and they handle awesome in all types of road condition especially in the corners! I live out in the country where I ride a lot of rough windy backwoods an these tires handle and wear way better than the Dunlop's I use too run on my bike! I also don't even feel the cracks or grooves in the road with these Shinko's unlike the Dunlop's that would get caught in every crack or groove in the road! Way cheaper too! Definitely buying these again!

Good Tire, Great Distance, Concerning PSI Fluctuation
I am on my second set. My first set got about 13k out of them. Front was still good, but anytime I change one I change the other. I am 13k on the current set, and still can probably get to 15K on them. They have been great in most all weather. I will say that I had one instance on a wet road where I was coming to a stop, and think I felt a slip, but I am not sure. But that was when they were brand new and I was being overly sensitive to the handling. Ever since in pouring rain I have not had an issue. Regardless now I have had two sets and going on 27k miles on them and I am impressed. I will be switching back to dunlops though for one reason only. The pressure change on these during the summer is crazy. I have started the morning with 38psi front and back and these have gotten up close to 50 psi during the day on long trips. While they still feel sticky and ride comfortably, it just makes me uneasy.

Worst tire ever
Not happy at all. Brand new tire made it 120 miles of a 600 mile ride. The first stop at 120 miles my tire was down to 12 psi. Thoroughly checked the tire for anything I could have ran over, had the tire checked with suds for leaks or holes. Nothing. Everytime I stopped for fuel, I also had to keep adding air to my tire to make it home. The so called long haul tire didn't make it very long at all. Will not buy from shinko again. Disgusted.

Year round expectations
I have had the Shinko SR 999 LH mounted on the front rim of my CMX 500 for just under 400 miles. So, not a long term review.
Strangely, I didn't care much for it the first 75 miles. The steering was different and didn't lend confidence in the tight switch corners. Due to weather, the first two rides were commuting to work and limited miles.
Once the washing of the roads ended, I was able to break the tire in properly. The twitching in the corners reduced as the tire warmed up. The confidence increased, the speed returned and the tire broke in on that 200 mile ride.
Now, I can corner as well as I could on the Michelin commander that needed replaced.
I picked Shinko's due to the reviews and the long delivery time on the Michelin. The price was nice, but not the prime driving force.
Since that break in ride, I have ridden on hot, 98°F days, heavy rain, and cool 55°F mornings. The tire is good.
I ride year round and hope the tire makes good in what comes, miles and weather.

That tire is very solid and I got good milage. I will try it again.
I used the 777s before and very close to the same performance. 1000+ mile road trip test!
Immediately after purchasing a Shinko 999 rear tire for my 2003 FWDWG, I went on a 1000+ mile road trip with buddies, to ride many of the great roads in Arkansas. (AR-123 is my favorite road out of the 26 states I've ridden in) the first 2 days we hit rain. Thankfully I had about 300 miles on the tire so it was broken in by the time we got rain. While I didn't push the tire too aggressively, it still never broke traction. Once the skies cleared, I was able to really push the tire through many twisty roads. I can say the after 1086 miles, this tire does very well with regard to grip. It does show some very small signs of wear (Center tread is flattening out very slightly). I'm assuming I'll get at least 5-7k out of these tires. If that's true, their well worth the cost, at $100 cheaper than the stock Dunlap.

So far have about 500 miles on the tire and I am very happy with it at this point. Ran American Elite front and rear and wore the rear until it was well past needing to be replaced, close to 13K miles out of it. Initially I will say the Shinko grip a little better cold when making sharp leaning turns which I have to do coming out of driveway. Also, bike seems to absorb bumps slightly better than with the Elite at same pressure. Handles great after warming up. Hopefully it'll last as long as average rear tires do.

I don't know yet let's give it some time.
The tire looks great. I have no complaints at this time, but I have only put about 100 miles on it so far. And none in the rain. The price was very good. Ask me in a year and I'll have more feedback.

Shinko 999
This is the third set of Shinko tires I have purchased but the first set of 999's. The other where 777 and for my type of riding they have performed great, hopefully the 999 will perform as well

Balanced with very little weight. Only have 200 miles but they hold well in corners and have no noticeable tire sound.
Great value for the price! I will buy another set when needed.

My new favorite tire
Had the Shinko 777s on a different vulcan, loved how they handled. Wanted more life from them. Trying the 999s. Already 1000 miles in 2 weeks and they are awesome

Need To Be Convinced
Easy to mount and balance, I'll give it 3 stars for that. Time will tell if it gets another one or two. I hope it does.

Recommend with a grain of salt at this time. Hope that changes.

So far so good
So far so good. They have great road holding capability while performing well in the wet. I can't comment yet on longevity but I'm hoping they last at least one season of riding on this big heavy touring bike.

The price is pretty affordable for a decent tire. For example a set of front and rear was little more than the cost of one rear for my FLHTK using the normal brand D. If these things give me half the mileage or more of my brand D, I'll continue to rotate through these

Good product, great price
I would recommend so far. Noticed a difference right away from my old Bridgestones (16k miles). Tar snakes not as noticeable. Good grip. Wait to see on longevity, only had less than a month.

Good performance. Rides well. It's too early to tell how many miles it'll go. But it has a lot of tread on it

Impressed
So far I'm really impressed.
My bike had 15 year old tires on it when I bought it.
The tread looked ok but they were old.
I have a 65 mile commute.
Feels planted but not difficult to turn in.

First impressions
Really only have around 600 miles on it, but zero complaints. Seems to handle as well as the major brands tires, can’t say about in the rain yet. Mileage until worn out will determine a final rating. It only took one ounce to balance it, always a good sign. Pretty hard to give a good review until long term use. Four stars on tread life = optimism.

Fast delivery, fresh tire and modern looks
It looks like is going to be a great front tire. It has plenty of rubber so it should last longer than an average. It is smooth turning no grinding feeling. It also looks good. I did a a little research, Shinko is the same as Yokahoma so this is not a bad inexpensive tire by no means. It is reasonably excellent for the price. Most important date of fabrication is only 6 months old. Buy tires that sell so your chances of getting fresh tires are high. Thanks JP for making me happy. This tire's price will go up.

Not good for 21 inch tires
Always ran dunlop tires on the front of 03 night train, no problem, 21 inch shinko made a terrible wobble at 75 to 90 3 inches on the handle bars. Ihave run them on back tire 16 and 17 inch no problems. O also purchased a wide glide with the shinko in the front has wobble above 65 in a curve, going to order 2 Dunlap tires.

Trying these out...
I just mounted these on a 2012 H-D Street Glide. They have about 200 miles on them so far, a lot of it on wet roads. The grip has been great, a big improvement over the Dunlops I was running previously.

I can't rate the longevity at this point, but I'm if they get average to above average mileage, it will be a win for the price.

This is the first set of Shinkos I have purchased, and so far I'm impressed. For the price and performance I think I can live without the bar and shield logo on the tire.
