Frequently Asked Questions
What does a fuel pressure regulator do?
It maintains steady fuel pressure to the EFI injectors. A failing regulator can cause hard starts, stalling, or poor fuel economy.
How do I know if mine needs replacement?
Symptoms include rough idle, hesitation during acceleration, or trouble starting. Have fuel pressure tested by a technician if suspected.
Is this a direct bolt-on replacement?
Yes — SMP regulators are OEM-spec replacements. Mounting location and connector vary by model; confirm your bike's fitment before ordering.
Will this work on carbureted bikes?
No — this is for EFI-equipped V-twins only. Carbureted models use mechanical regulators or none at all.

Does not work on a 2004 ultra classic.
Stated it would work on a 2004 ultra classic, however, it is not the correct fuel pressure for the bike. This regulator puts out about 40 psi.
It did not work
This particular fuel regulator is not the one I need this one with the red top has approximately 40 to 43 PSI some users may experience the ones they removed from their cycle will be a white top that one has 58 to 63 PSI there is a difference contrary to what some parts people will tell you the one I received is absolutely useless to me it will not function or make the bike perform that was almost 20 psi difference it did fit in the bike did start and run but not well so when ordering a fuel regulator be sure you get the right color there is a red top and a white top that is very important
I'm quite sure it's a good part for the correct vehicle but the one I received was either incorrect or the wrong part entirely the fuel pressure was too low
Seems to be in all right product except this particular one is not the regulator that works on my bike this regulator only produces 40 to 43 PSI and the one I need is 58 to 62
