Wont last long

I've bought this battery 3 separate times. The first 2 lasted about 14-15 months, the most recent only 1 year and it literally crapped out this morning. They all died the same way with melted terminals. I go to start it on my way to work and it struggles, 2-3 times and it smokes the terminals. Luckily the 3 times the terminals fried i was at home and not out in the middle of nowhere. Unless u wanna buy a new battery every year look elsewhere.

Good battery, HORRIBLE terminals

Fun morning: http://i.imgur.com/j1nibDs.jpg

Had one of these in my bike for a year (about typical lifespan for me), so I wasn't surprised when one morning it just didn't have quite enough juice to start my bike. For the last month, it has to turn the engine over a couple times before it catches, so this time I let it go for exactly five attempts (so about 5-7 seconds of power, this will be important later).

No problem, I already had a second battery waiting for when the first finally couldn't start the bike. So I go to remove the old battery... and the terminals have melted all over the ECM. Great, I have to clean out melted lead off of a bunch of wires.

My first thought is that I got a short in the wiring somehow this morning. I hook the bike up to a tester, and that's not the problem. I can only presume that cranking power for 5-7 seconds melted the terminals.

Next, I went to plug in the new battery, and just tightening the zinc bolt/brass nut smushed the lead terminal. I mean, lead is really soft and all, but I'm not the Incredible Hulk when it comes to tightening bolts. There's no way you should get this kind of deformation during basic assembly.

TL:DR - Battery is fine when it gets in place, it's a basic AGM battery, so no surprises. However the terminals are GARBAGE and will melt/deform/break under normal assembly/operating conditions

Good Product

I am very happy with this battery. AGM batteries last longer - especially if it is a Yuasa. I can plug in multiple things into my bike and not have to worry about voltage or a dead battery. I highly recommend this battery to everyone.

Much Improved Battery Terminal Layout

Yuasa is my preferred battery brand. This battery comes factory activated which makes the prep prior to installation much easier. The biggest advantage over the Yuasa battery unit I've been using for the past 14 years is that this one has improved terminals that don't require the thick spacers between the cable lugs and battery terminals. It makes cable attachment much easier and more secure as well. I have lost more batteries in my rigid bobber to melted terminals caused by loose connections than I have worn out over the years, If they offer this configuration in a size appropriate for my FXST I will be switching to that when I have to replace the battery in that bike as well.

Battery replacement on 2017 HD 883 Iron

My 2017 883 Iron battery was getting weak. I replaced it with a GYZ16HL battery. It came fully charged, and with extra length bolts and brass spacers. Because it was the same dimensional size, it took ten minutes to replace. The engine cranks faster, lights are good and bright, I'm very pleased. Deliver was fast and battery was packed very well with " Fragil " sticker.
