Zero issues
I did a lot of research before buying this particular aftermarket tuner. I looked at the new Harley-Davidson Screaming Eagle tuner, the V&H tuner and a few others. I settled on this one for the name brand and its features. I didn't really want one of those bluetooth devices although they definitely have their advantages, because all the reviews thus far describe how limited they are in terms of tuning functionality. Ultimately I'm happy I chose this product.<br /><br />Once received, be sure to connect it to your computer, make a Dynojet website account and update the firmware before plugging this in to your bike. Be sure to also read the instructions. I know, I know, it's not what men do, but why would you hook something up to your precious bike that messes with the bike's computer (and likely voids any warrantee) without reading the instructions?! I will say that as a Mac user having to use PC based things is always complicated. Install this file, drag it to this folder, open said folder, run this program, go back to the website, download this file, drag it to the new folder, disconnect, reconnect, update, transfer, open folder, and on and on and on. The website is also a little frustrating in that I ended up with like 15 tabs open just trying to get the proper files installed and YouTube help windows on how to accomplish all of this. Once all set up, however, the rest is history.<br /><br />Take the now updated device to your bike and remove any cover you need to access the data port (for my 2021 Sport Glide it's the metal cover on the left side of the bike where the battery used to be on the old Dyna's. For others it might be under your seat). The data port is easily recognized because of its bright red tip and the fact that it's not plugged into anything else on your bike by default. Again, read the instructions on how to turn your bike on, off, and back on again to flash the bike's ECU. Reinstall the cover, figure out how you're going to run the cable back up to wherever you're going to mount the screen device and that's about it. The package contents include two Velcro stickies that I guess you can mount to your bike but I didn't want to have stickies on the bike so I just used my cell phone mount I already had on the bike instead. I don't know if Dynojet offers a mounting device specific to this device but I may look into that because this device is visible read only in the horizontal mounting position which is a bit awkward. <br /><br />I installed a full aftermarket exhaust from Sawiki Speed company, a high flow air cleaner from DK Customs (the 606), and this device flashing the ECU completes the Harley-Davidson Stage 1 tune! The nice feature of this device is its ability to run an auto tune while riding the bike. As I've had this device only for a week or so and it has been raining where I live I haven't had a chance to utilize the auto tune feature as of yet. However, even without that the base map I installed for the full Stage 1 upgrade REALLY made a noticeable difference on the bike!! Immediately I heard less engine "knocking" and whining. The air fuel ratio (AFR) was noticeably improved even sitting at idle because the exhaust smelled different; I know that sounds weird but I noticed it right away. Once on the road the engine was NOTICEABLY cooler as felt (or not felt) on my right leg. The throttle response was much improved, the exhaust note was much deeper and more pronounced. Just the whole package; the whole bike was immediately improved. I'd say that's money well spent!<br /><br />Maybe after a few years of improvement the bluetooth devices will be the way to go and have much more tuning capabilities. They also noticeably don't require you to run cords from the bike seat area to the handlebars. However, for right now (July 2023) this is the product I chose for the amount of features and aftermarket control it offers. Highly recommended to you.
