Are the insoles removable if I want to swap in custom orthotics?

The gum sole provides traction and a classic sneaker look while staying oil-resistant for riding near fuel and engine areas.

Do these have shifter protection?

Yes — the reinforced toe and heel boxes provide impact protection suitable for riding, plus dual ankle protectors on both sides.

Nice Basic Shoe

Looks like a regular shoe/sneaker. So off the bike no one will know its a riding shoe.Should provide some protection in a crash. But remember this is a basic riding shoe. Not a high end boot.

Love the look.Comfortable.Comfort keeps getting better each time I wear them.I am a 10.5 normally but they only come in whole sizes.I took a chance and got a size 10 instead of an 11 because as a riding shoe I rather have the fit a little smaller then larger. The 10 was fine for me.Maybe feel only slightly smaller then a 10.5.Good for me.You may feel different about that though depending on how you like the fit of your shoes to fit. I would say they are true to size.

Nice basic look.Comes up high to cover your ankles.Laces are overly long though.Has a good feel to the shifter and rear brake pedals.I don't ride in the rain. But I would not think these are meant for that as they are just a heavy canvas material.

Work great for me as I have only ridden in high top sneakers in the past.So for me this is an upgrade.I really like them.Very happy with this purchase.

CAUTION *READ*

At first they were, ok, not incredibly comfortable but they seemed to have atleast some protection. The sole still collapses pretty easily and the toe material is thin so if your shifter is stiff getting ready to bruise the top of your foot.
Not all that impressed but they work, until they didn't.....
I was riding home and it started raining when I got back the shoes were soaked, so I pulled out the insole to let them dry and thought nothing of it. I come back 6 hours later and I go to put the insole back and I reach inside only to find the ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE SHOE HAS DISSOLVED, ITS LITERALLY MADE OF PAPER, it fell apart in my has like paper that had been soaking in water.
The shoes are now useless, they have less support than my vans and they don't give me any confidence in the safety of my feet. Deffinately won't buy again from this company, to be honest wish it had happen sooner so I could atleast return them and get my money back.

Not very durable

After about 1200 miles the textile upper has a large hole from shifting. The boot looks pretty nice and the fit is pretty good. They are quite stiff and the foot/ankle protection can make them uncomfortable for walking around in, but that?s probably to be expected. They lose points for me on durability.

Awesome Summer shoes for the ride

These are my favorite bike shoes. The only thing that has worn out is the right side laces (frayed). Super comfortable and perfect for Summer riding.

Axle Shoes

If a consumer wears orthotics then it would be hard to wear this shoe. Depending on the size of orthotics and shoe, it can move way too much inside. Which it did for me but I was able to pad it up. It has a good style and I would definitely recommend. The shoe laces does become loose after a bit of walking. Like literally a couple of steps and you would have to retie it.

Great shoe for the price point!

I love these sneakers! Only giving them 4 stars because of the heat. I bought these in summertime, and here in Southern California, they have gotten really warm on rides. They're not hot enough to notice while riding, but definitely while off the bike. A couple ventilation points in the shoe would alleviate these concerns, especially close to the toe, where the majority of the heat lies. I do understand there is no ventilation there due to the reinforced toe, but a couple rivets on the inside side of the reinforced toe would have been great.

Now, onto the good parts:
1. The crush protection in the sole is excellent. really difficult to bend it, especially laterally.
2. Reinforcement at the toe, heel, and ankles is pretty adequate. It's not a racing shoe, and the reinforcement is enough to balance comfort and safety.
3. They are comfortable when walking around! Aside from the aforementioned heat on 95+ degree days, I can walk around in these shoes all day long!
