Frequently Asked Questions

How does the adaptive beam technology work?

On-board accelerometers sense your lean angle when cornering. The light pattern shifts electronically to fill dark areas and illuminate inside the turn for better visibility.

Is this a plug-and-play installation?

Yes — it plugs into any 5.75" round headlight bucket without modifications. Most riders can install it in 15 minutes.

Does it require a special wiring harness or module?

No special wiring needed. It connects to your existing motorcycle headlight harness as a direct replacement.

Is this street legal?

Yes — DOT and ECE certified for street use in North America and Europe. Meets all federal headlight regulations.

What's the warranty?

JW Speaker backs it with a 5-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.

Turns night into day

I just got mine tonight, installed it and took it for a test ride. (2016 Indian Roadmaster-which comes with a factory LED headlight). All I can say is WOW. I'm not sure the overall light intensity is all that much brighter-but there are no dead spots, the beam is far wider and the adaptive function...seems like magic. A road I commonly take at night is bunch of tight, twisty, 20-40 MPH curves, with a bunch of hills and dips. Oh, and a rock face on one side and river on the other. It's about a 8-10 mile stretch (and a lot of fun in the daylight) without a single street light (and few houses). With the stock headlight, I found it downright scary. Every time I banked into a curve the abrupt cutoff of the light beam left curves utterly black-it's like riding by brail-no idea the sharpness of the turn (and I've put a bunch of time trying to dial in the adjustment). Making right turns off a dark country road is the same way-nearly have to stop and turn the fairing to see rather than lean into the turn and ride through it. Hills/dips in the road left huge dark areas, and of course the normal dark band below the high beam "patch". Oh, and at best the beam pattern is pretty narrow-forget seeing critters off the side of the road. I found passing cars coming the other way on dark country roads bad as well-the low beams are aimed so low (when the highs are adjusted to be functional) that it's like being blind when someone is coming the other way. Tolerable in town and not bad on wide, straight, level roads-none of which describe North Idaho.

With the adaptive-world of difference. Light everywhere with no dark, blind spots. Coming into the turn the adaptives kick in (on top of the much more effective high beam) and throws light around the corner. The first couple of curves I was taken back a bit-it seemed like someone was coming the other way the way the corners lit up. Curves that had me creeping around before now I could take comfortably at 40mph or better. I could see deer (aka fur-bearing terrorists) out in the fields when driving. Turning off the paved country road onto my dirt road was always an adventure-nearly impossible to see the turn until on top of it, and again, nearly have to stop to make the turn. Now-it's like daylight-no issues seeing the road coming up to it, and seeing around the turn was a non-issue. And the low beam issue is much better-I felt I could ride quite safely on just low beams at a decent speed. Coming over hills no longer left a huge black hole (and I think I can get this better-I think it's set a bit high). Oh, did I mention that it was raining this time and my visor was fogging? Still could see far better than with the stock bulb on a dry night.
Paying the price was painful (and I'm a bit financially challenged-as well as cheap) so it took a bit to convince me. As of now, I have to say, worth the money. I honestly think that with it I might have avoided the deer I tagged last fall with this light. That happened when I had to drop to low beam due to a car coming the other way and a deer ran between us-never even saw it till it hit my fender. At least now there is a fighting chance against zombie bambis.

After a few more days riding, I am even more impressed. Makes a huge difference on tight, twisty roads that abound with wildlife. If I were traveling more flat, straight roads, I'd look as something different and less expensive. But on a twisty road, this thing rocks.

Best light money can buy

For those who don't want to read too much... Amazing light. No dead spots, light illuminates closer, wider and farther than stock Indian Pathfinder LED.

I received the JW Speaker Adaptive 2 headlight and installed it a little over a month ago. I don't ride at night too often and last night was the first night ride with my girlfriend. She noticed the massive difference between the stock LED light and this JW Speaker Adaptive 2 along with the JW Speaker Riding Lights. Actually, that's the reason I'm writing a review... It made enough of an impression on her that she said I needed to review it.

Absolutely amazing difference. These lights illuminate everything from a few feet in front of the motorcycle, the sides of the roads and down the road. With the stock headlight, I felt uncomfortable riding down the road much faster than 50mph because I just couldn't see. With this light, I was perfectly comfortable riding 70mph.

No doubt it's a very expensive light. In my opinion, it's worth every cent.

Not worth the money

Installed on 2017 FLHXS. Installed as per instructions. No better than stock on low beam. I prefer stock on high beam. I raised the aim up higher and saw a slight improvement on low beam. Save your money!

Great lamp!

I t-boned bambi last year and wrecked my headlight assembly. Since I was looking for an upgrade anyway I bought this. I live in rural Missouri and this lamp lights my way just fine. The lean sensitive lighting is always where I need it before I need it. The digital burn works just fine. I'll gladly put this on my next cruiser as soon as I can.

You get what you pay for

This is my second JW Speaker Adaptive headlight. It is simple plug-n-play and installed easily into my 2016 Indian Roadmaster. A little trimming of the plastic headlight bucket was required to accommodate the larger heatsink on the rear of the light.
I live in an area where there is heavy tree canopy that blocks out the moonlight and there are minimal street lights. Add into that the deer and other critters that hang out in the woods making premium lighting a must.
I have experimented with other high performance lighting and although some throw the beam a long distance down the road, none have the quality of light pattern that the JW Speaker light provides. No blinding of cars in front of you or oncoming traffic. And yet reflective roadside signs are illuminated a halt mile away.
There are certain items that premium products/pricing are worth it to me. After my helmet I put lighting at the top of my must have list. JW Speaker is simply the best in that area.
