I have used this on three links so far (break, press, rivet). I am impressed. Follow the directions, think it through first, and everything works out. Remember to tighten the large bolt when riveting - otherwise you'll crack the magnet the holds the rivet crimper - don't ask me how I know ;)<br />Nice carry case, great design details. Again, Motion Pro handles the job!
best break and rivet tool for the price.
I bought this tool to break my stock chain(525) and to rivet on a new RK chain(525). it comes in a nice case, its really compact and you can break, press, and rivet very easily with it. I didn't have a problem with any pins or anything. i kept reading about people breaking pins but i believe that's on the user and not the product(it comes with spare too). i broke the old rivet like nothing and it pushed out with a good twist, the pin is still straight and i didn't even grind the rivet first. just make sure its lined up right! the press tool lines up well and is very visible as well as the riveting part. honestly for my first time doing this i felt like i did something wrong because of how easy it was! i've gotten the bike up to speed and put miles on it with no problems. i completely recommend this tool!
Not Impressed
This was my first chain tool. It had no problem breaking a 525 chain and pressing the new link plate on, but it isn't so great at flaring a rivet. The rivet pin actually cut into the flaring bead making it unable to complete the job and unusable for any future rivet jobs. Pretty sad that the master link rivet was stronger than the tool. Perhaps greasing the bead would have helped, but that was not mentioned in the manual. BTW, it was a 525 BikeMaster BMXR master link. I'll be getting a warranty replacement and then this tool is going to Craigslist. I ended up getting a D.I.D. KM500R, and it performed flawlessly. It's pretty foolproof as well since it's design prevents you from over pressing link plates or overflaring rivets.
good tool but WEAR SAFETY GLASSES
This worked well for me on last couple of chain changes. However, I did experience the rivet head attachment EXPLODE into small pieces. I contacted the manufacturer but didn't get very far with them. Make sure to wear safety glasses as the tool is putting a lot of force into a small area and if (well in my case, when) it fails, large chunks of metal will fly at high velocity. Stay safe people!

If you plan on doing your own chain work, sprockets, etc. You need a tool to do it all. Press, rivet, and break.
Must have tool for chain replacement
Used it for the first time to put a new chain on and it worked wonders. It comes with colored instructions to help you every step of the way definitely a must have. The kit does with everything you need to replace your chain.
Wanted rivet link not clip
this thing is a work horse and so easy to use! worth the money as i bought some cheap ones that broke but this thing did the trick. Dont want to start a master clip versus rivet link debate but for me i chose to rivet my DID chain. This thing also removed some links for me as I went two teeth less on rear sprocket- this is a must have and will last as long as you follow instructions and grease it before storage.
A must for wrenchers
This is an easy recommend for anyone doing any of their own wrenching. Made the process so easy. Just make sure you oil it before and after use and it should last as long as you do
Gets the Job Done
I did not grind the rivets on my chain, but I did lube the tool threads with a bit of grease before use. Broke my chain easily without damage to the tool. Pressing the plates and riveting went without a hitch, as well (I also put a little grease on rivet head anvil). No bent pins, and no shattered anvils for me.

Not Good
I've been using my buddy's RK for years but got tired of stopping by his house to borrow. Purchased the Motion Pro as it looked good and was less money. Very disappointing. The threads began falling out on the first use and the pin bent. Granted I'm not grinding the chain down beforehand because I never had to with the RK. Motion Pro was nice enough to replace the whole unit but the same thing happened with the new one. I just ordered an RK.
Couldnt ask for a better chain press, break, and rivet tool. I was easily able change out my chain in just 30 minutes and that taking my time. I did get a rivet master link so I was able to use all these features with ease. This is very durable and I know it will last me forever and I will be using this to change out many many chains.

It simply is as easy as matching the block up with what you want to do: B for break, R for rivot, and P for press. I had never used a chain breaker before and this little tool made life quite easy. Fit on my 520 and 530 chain with no problems!!!

This is the first chain tool I have ever used but it is awesome. I read reviews on others that were horrible, like the tool bent or broke. This is a solid tool, easy to use and the different functions are well labeled. Worth every penny to not be frustrated with a cheap tool that bends or breaks.

Did the job very well, no signs of weakness or any breaking. I've used a few others in the past, but this one's been the most durable so far. Definitely recommend if you're looking to change your chain.
Can't imagine replacing a chain without this.
I just replaced my first chain (ever) and I was surprised how well this tool worked. I was expecting it to struggle with breaking the original factory rivet, but it went through the link like butter. It pressed the new plate and set the rivets easily. I was apprehensive and anxious about attempting this repair myself but it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be (with the right tools)<br />I recommend getting a small pipe to use as a breaker bar as the handle on this tool is relatively small and doesn't provide much leverage. I also recommend getting a small caliper to judge how far to press the new plate and how far to spread the rivets.<br />Good luck and have fun

Outstanding tool. Just used this to replace the chain on my ZX6R and it worked flawlessly. The tool has some real heft to it so it?s obviously made from quality materials. Directions included in the box made breaking the old chain and riveting the new one a snap. I did grind the old rivet prior to extraction and it came out first try. In some ways, I wish I would have more use for it than every 10k miles or so! I highly recommend.

This tool is great. Broke my chain, installed master link and riveted it no problem. Used it on 2 separate chains. The directions are easy to follow with pictures. Was reluctant to spend the money, but it's high quality and easy to use. Comes with a nice case for easy storage too.
Motion Pro PBR chain tool
Works wonderfully and easy to use. This chain tool is well crafted and has lot of good features. Comes pre-oiled and has clear instructions. It was a little pricey but definitely worth spending the extra money on.

This tool allowed me to install my new 520 chain conversion so I'm happy. I have 10,000 miles on my new chain and everything is still solid. I would recommend it.

Horrible
While this tool looks like it would be great and I really wanted to like it the problem was at the hole in the anvil and the extractor pin do not line up so when you tighten extractor bolt down the pin cannot be driven out of the other side and the force goes into the body and extractor threads which are weakest point and break. <br />Dealing with MotionPro warranty department is not a pleasant experience either.

This thing is a hurricane of ass kickery. Packaging is awesome, minimal amount of parts to the tool, easy to figure out and compact. No complaints on my end.

The right tool for the job
This is pricey but it makes changing a chain super easy. Plus you you can use the rivet type master-link instead of the sketchy clip type.<br /><br />I may only use it once a year but it will last a lifetime.
Beauty is in the simplicity
Gets the job done, and is super easy to use. Be careful when riveting, I have a problem of over torquing things. Busted the master link while riveting. There are no torque specs in the directions so you kinda gotta guess while riveting. Other than that it works pretty good. Maybe its user error.
Everything you need
This tool is simple to use and has everything you need to replace your old chain with a new one. The instructions it comes with are very easy to understand. A little pricey, but less expensive than a dealership.
Great tool
I used this to swap out the chain on my F800GS. The tool is well made and finished, and did the job perfectly. It's small enough that I could throw it in the bag for a long trip without issue. A little on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for.
Way better than the cheaper tool
I was forced to buy this tool after the cheaper Motion Pro tool's anvil broke during the first use. Avoid the cheaper tool, it's garbage. This is much more durable.
Great tool
It was my first time changing chain on 07 KTM SD 990. Tool was super easy to use. Came with clear instructions backed up by pictures. Breaking was a breeze. Pressing and riveting took some time as there was a bit of doubt involved due to lack of experience. Whole process took some time but came out great. Like i said i do not have much experience with other tools so i cant tell. This one worked great for me and its a keeper in my book.

Pin broke after first use. I dont know if its user error.
I dont know what's happening but the pin bent after breaking the master link. I ordered new parts. From videos ive seen, I seem to be using it correctly so im unsure what's happening.

I've only used the Motion Pro PBR tool once to remove stock chain on CRF450rl and install new DID 520 ervt x-ring chain.<br /> -The tool did a great job. I only used it for removing links and breaking the stock chain. It did this very well and I didn't grind pins; only used the tool.<br />- The tool is well made and I think it will last a long time.<br /> I recommend the tool.

Great tool
Used to replace two DID 425 chains on midsized dual sport and adventure bikes. Performed flawlessly though be sure to use extra grease on threads when breaking old chain and installing new chain master link. Requires a bit of muscle and care to achieve a perfect rivet. Easy to use.

This tool made my first chain replacement a breeze. The instructions were clear, and it only took a little bit of fiddling to understand how the tool worked. <br />Considering the broken handle review, I opted not to use the screw-in handle and grabbed a large crescent wrench instead. The extra leverage was so noticeable I don't think the provided handle will ever get used.<br />Expensive, but a shop visit would have cost about the same.
Only lasted through 2 and half chains.
The anvil block is what sold me on this and everything was going great until I snapped the handle off. It only last through 2 and half chains before it fell apart. Also the anvil is stuck on the chain and it's either destroy a brand new chain or buy another one and hope to get it off.
No issues with the tool (breaking and riveting a 530 chain) and shipping was quick.

It worked very well, and definitely heavy duty for what it was designed for. My only complaint is the handle that screws into the tool for leverage needs to be a bit thicker and longer. I would have given it 5 stars if the handle was better.

The trouble with so many of these chain tool kits is durability. This one has been treated well and has performed better than other I have had to use. For the price this was the best option.

Great chain tool. Use it a bunch and never had a problem. Some other cheaper kits break pins like candy canes. This kits badass. Worth spending a few extra to avoid headaches. The case is quality too so no worry about losing pieces if taking it in the tool roll.

Fantastic tool. Cuts chain nicely, presses side plate easily. The riveting was a bit hard, needs a longer handle to get enough force. But it worked. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of instruction/direction on how much to rivet. I just pressed until the end of the pins were about the same as the other links on the chain. Seems to be working fine. Worth the money though if you are a DIY'er

You can clearly see someone used it on a chain by the markings (from a gold colored chain) on the components. They just used it and then returned it.

This is by far one of the best chain breakers I've ever used. Mainly that it makes breaking chains super easy, and more importantly in a way that doesn't cause the pin in the tool to break easily as I've seen with other chain breaker, eventually when it does, it at least comes with a spare!
Great 3 in 1 tool.
Works as expected. Good all in 1 tool (Break,press,&rivit). Can break rivit without grinding link, but will require alot more force. Had to use a wrench to gain leverage. Grinding link would make it a bit easier. Held up well during use. Keep tool well lubed.

The MP PBR chain tool is bulletproof and did the jobs of rivet pushing and dimpling very well. Pretty darn expensive for a tool, but I don't think I will ever need to replace it.
Made the job Quick and Easy
I have an R6 racebike, and replacing my chain (as well as teammates chains) happens rather frequently. This tool can break the old chain and install the new chain with ease. Simply flipping the block over to the correct setting takes no time at all, and a wonderful feature. I loved tools optimized for a specific job, and this tool delivers in every way it is meant to.

Perfect tool for the job
I purchased this to fit a new chain (530) myself instead of taking to a shop. This was my first time changing out a chain and this tool made it very simple, with easy to follow directions and a straightforward tool design. The price is a little high but it is a quality piece and lets you easily change chains yourself without the hassle and cost of taking it to a shop. It seems durable enough, I didn't have any worries of it breaking, and I will use it again when the time comes.

Little awkward
Got this because I needed one. The instructions are very clear and the tool intuitive. It is a little awkward to use for the "breaking" step but then haven't found one that was super easy either. Although Motion Pro does an OK job rust preventing the tool, you should give it a good coating with a rust inhibitor after use and lube the threads before first use. Mine had a small amount of rust discoloration where someone had touched it during packaging. It wasn't in a critical area so no foul. Overall a great product that works as advertised.

Good functional reasonably priced product
My prior chain breaker was that D I D two-piece clamp design. After three uses the fittings bent and it became nonfunctional. This being a one piece design appears to be much more sturdy and Is reasonably priced. I would recommend this product.

Good tool
The tool did the job. First time I used it I ended up tightening down on the rivet too far and ended up cracking the head of the rivet. I used more precaution with the second master link and successfully got it installed. I wish the tool self aligned on the master link just a little bit better but you just have to get used to it. Anyway I will never have a shop charge me for installing a chain again!

The motionpro worked like a charm. Pressed a 530 plate and riveted the pins, no problem. Comes with an extra push bolt which is awesome. Heavy attachable handle for more leverage. Very competitive price. Would buy again.
