Frequently Asked Questions

What is a sprocket jammer used for?

It locks the chain and sprockets in place so you can safely remove or install the counter shaft nut without the engine rotating during service.

Can I use this to hold the rear wheel when tightening the axle?

Yes — position the jammer to pull the rear wheel against chain blocks for leverage when torquing the rear axle nut.

Will this fit any V-twin motorcycle?

Yes — this universal jammer works on any V-twin Harley-Davidson or Indian Motorcycle with a standard chain drive.

Is this tool street-legal to carry on the bike?

This is a service tool for shop or home use, not for roadside carry. Remove it before riding.

Good looking and functional, but likes getting chewed.

Does exactly what its supposed to, but takes extra care to keep the sprocket from chewing on it.

I found it needed to engage with the sprocket teeth first then spun into the chain for the best fit. One pull on the torque wrench later it fell out of the sprocket teeth and got a bit chewed up on the next pull. This was jamming the front sprocket while tightening the shaft nut, so maybe it's better used only with the rear sprocket.

No regrets, I'd still buy it again.
