Frequently Asked Questions
What handlebar diameter does this fit?
The 7/8" QuickSet mount fits standard 7/8" diameter handlebars found on most cruisers and touring bikes.
Can I adjust the angle of the windscreen?
Yes — the RakeAdjust feature allows you to angle the screen forward or back to suit your riding position and wind protection preference.
Is the Quantum® hardcoating different from older National Cycle screens?
Yes. Quantum® hardcoated polycarbonate is more scratch-resistant and impact-resistant than the High Impact Acrylic used on earlier Deflector screens.
Can I use this with a U-Clamp mount instead of QuickSet?
Yes — the screen is compatible with both 2-point QuickSet and standard U-Clamp mounting systems.
Will this work on my specific bike?
Check your handlebar diameter and mounting location. Most cruisers and touring bikes with 7/8" handlebars can use this universal screen — verify fitment before ordering.

love it
Got this windscreen for my harley street 750, and it fits great. I was able to put the windscreen under the fairing so I can still maintain my style on my bike. Its easy to install but hard to adjust it just right, getting everything lines up and even takes about 30 minutes, but once you get it all set up removing and re-installing is a pinch. I didn't need the double stick tape on my bike, and i imagine adding that would make adjustment really difficult. Highly recommend.

Well made and easy installation
I mounted this on my '77 CB750k. I worked in the bicycle industry for 20 years and am familiar with how mounting hardware for various things can be good or bad, and the hardware and mounting system for this windshield is top-shelf for sure. Installation was very easy and impressively sturdy. The overall quality is 5/5. The only minor criticism is that I would have preferred more visual diagrams in the instructions, where as they are, they are mostly text. Again, a minor critique. This is a smaller, unobtrusive, but effective windscreen.

great product, works perfectly
The windshield fits my 2015 fat bob pretty well without detracting from the bike's styling. The only problem I had was the mounting is somewhat fiddly, it takes a while to get all the adjustments just right but after it's done you don't need to touch it again. When they say use heat to snap in the mount on the windshield, DO IT. I actually put the snap in part into the freezer and heated the mating part with a hairdryer, after which, the parts would go together. I think National Cycle should have put those parts together. The windshield works very well and won't break the bank to buy. I really can't say enough about this windshield.

For the price it can't be beat
Received the DX Windshield before a short weekend trip. Was primarily looking for an affordable alternative to the OEM wind screen offered for my bike (SCR950). Typically I ride county and state roads and wanted to divert some air off of my arms and chest; so far the DX seems to do just that. Installation was fairly easy as the hex key was the only tool needed and was included. Took about three rides to mess with the positioning to find my preferred angle.

Works great on my duel sport MC
I am 72 years old, have been on motorcycles for 55 years. I have been using this model National Cycle screen on duelsport motorcycles for as I can remember and presently have one on my DR650. It provides adequate wind protection and is fully adjustable to work with rider height and mounting requirements. I have not had one failure in spite of numerous spills.
Good product if you want some protection without having a windscreen so large it's going to break in an off road spill. Highly recommend!

Nice Screen, maybe a little small
Well made screen, easy to install and gives my Super Glide more wind protection as promised. Less wind pressure makes my grips on the bars easier and more comfortable.
Also adds some helmet buffeting and wind noise. Possible a little larger screen would eliminate some of this. Maybe some adjustment will help. Still, I'm very satisfied.

Good product, poor customer service.
The product itself seems quality and sturdy. The reason for the 3 star is customer service. In an attempt to avoid returning the entire product because it didn't fit my bike I tried the customer service at National Cycle. I only needed the bar clamp sized up and asked if this was possible through them. My email was ghosted and no luck on the phone. Good product, poor customer service.

Nice product at fair price.
Overall a nice product at a good price. This was exactly what I wanted. Not a full windshield but enough to get the wind of my mid section making road rides much more enjoyable. I'm 6'5 so I get clean air on my head with is fine with me with no head shake. Then when I get to my off road destination, the windshield detaches in a matter of seconds.

Does the job
Does a good job at blocking the wind up to 60mph and redirects most of the wind up to 80mph, the fastest I?ve been on the new bike. It won?t replace a full fairing but for a light weight unobtrusive windscreen that only costs $130, it does the job and looks good.

Not for my bike
As advertised, this windshield is a universal fit windscreen for Harley Sportsters as well as a few others. But definitely not the Roadster Sportster. The handlebars have no space on the right side to permit mounting of the clamps. And even installing the left one required two people because of how the clamps are designed.

Great Screen for Money
Ordered this screen to go on my 18 Ural Gear Up. I wanted minimal sized screen to knock head wind down and this does the job perfectly. I still feel like I'm riding a motorcycle but I don't have the heavy drag of feeling like a human parachute. For the ease, quality and money.. you can't go wrong with this screen by National Cycle.

Good Windscreen
I like the windscreen. The installation was easy except that the supplied 1" U-clamps and eyebolts did not work with my handlebar. Instead, I substituted Motorcycle light bar mounts (that work like a Q-lock mount) with a 1" rubber collar. The eyebolts fit the mounts, and the rest of the installation went by the book. It was easy to fine tune the final position: center, height, and rake. The windscreen works well so far. I have no complaints about its performance or its quality.

Not worth it
I loved the idea of the removable windshield. It feels sturdy, it looks sturdy, scratch resistant. Great addition to my ride, UNTIL, it simply snapped. The wind broke it while riding around 60 miles per hour. Usually it rattled while going at high speed due to the way it's attached to the bike, which is not ideal but got the job done, until it broke itself against the wind. Not worth it unless they change the support method. I suggest going for the model that is not removable.

Perfect windscreen
Perfect windscreen. I generally don't like windscreens, but I like this one. Not too big, not too small. Extremely secure mounting system; seems like this would fit almost any bike. Construction seems extremely solid as well. It's shape is great as it's fat at the bottom and narrows towards the top. It really takes the wind pressure off the chest. There was a little issue with the hardware, but I called them directly, and ultimately got it resolved. Great product.

Just the right size
Using this on a 1979 CB750 with slightly lower than stock bars.

With my previous windshield (National Cycle Street Shield EX) no amount of angle/height adjustment would result in smooth air reaching my helmet. Laying down in a tuck would put my head in still air. Standing up on the pegs would put my head in smooth air. But sitting upright would always put me in the turbulent/buffeting zone, and I found that I'd end up less fatigued after a long ride with no windshield at all.

This Deflector Screen model however seems to be the perfect height. After a few adjustments (which by the way are quite easy) I've found an angle that results in clean/smooth airflow hitting my helmet, while the vast majority of wind blast on my torso is deflected. IMO, that's about as good as it's going to get on a standard/UJM bike without going massive full fairing.

When properly adjusted (so the support arms are as short as possible), vibration is minimal. I can neither confirm nor deny that I've tested it up to 95mph. But it's stable going TX highway speeds.

Satisfied with outcome, but could be better initial quality
Molded plastic parts were difficult to get into position and clamped over bars. Did not go together as easily as the manufacturer's demo video showed, but I did eventually get it into place with a couple extra hands. After a few rides, it has not moved. Stable in the wind, even with only two attachment points. Looks great on my older Magna.

Didnt work with my stock ergos; works with a handlebar swap (different ergos)
I read/watched the reviews and was convinced this would help with wind. I love the look without a windshield, just dont love the experience without a windshield. This went on a 1987 Honda Supermagna with stock handlebars, which provide roughly an 8 rise, making the rider ergonomics a bit up and back. This did two things that I didnt like: 1) moved my sitting position back which put pressure on my tailbone on the panned seat and 2) made me sit upright which made wind resistance a strain at freeway speeds. I figured a windshield would help with #2.

As much as I adjusted it and tried different things, with the stock ergonomics, I could not get it to make my helmet NOT shake and fill with noise. It was absolutely awful - ridiculous amounts of wind buffeting. The only way I could get it to stop was tuck down behind for the wind to pass over my helmet, and that would be lame to ride like that all the time. I took it off and threw it in storage. I found that riding without this windshield with my stock set-up was better than riding with it.

About a month ago, I wanted to change my riding ergonomics. The two issues that I mentioned before could be resolved with a lower rise (Emgo Superbike Handlebars). It would put me in a more sporty position which would make me more tucked (less wind resistance) and take the pressure off my tailbone.

Ive been riding it without the windshield, and yesterday considered: With the new ergonomics, would the windshield actually do its job this time? I installed it and crossed my fingers.

I do have to say that I experienced NO helmet buffeting and yes, it did take a LOAD of pressure off my chest at high speeds.

Again, this only worked well when I changed my handlebar set up.

I would recommend this windshield, but understand that it may not work with your bikes ergonomics. I dont think that a bike with older cruiser ergonomics which sit you a bit back and up would work well with this. Standard motorcycle ergonomics or some modern cruisers would work well.

Consider the ergos of your bike when you purchase this or any other aftermarket windshield.

Exactly what my 2012 Fat Boy Lo needed... With my Denim Black color scheme, I have been steadily "blacking out" my bike. I had a National Cycles Gladiator, but since that windshield only ocmes with chrome mounting hardware, it defeated my "black out" quest. The Deflector Screen is only slightly larger than the Gladiator, and has black mounting hardware that is line with my "all-black" theme. It was easy to install, and one cannot beat the price!

Quickset sucks. Stick with the U-clamp variant for better install
I installed on Kawasaki 454 LTD. The shield itself is good. I have to angle it far back to not get any buffeting. Since it's just a bar clamp, it does get a little buzzy during acceleration with my particular bike. You could probably install some rubber dampers (like ones used in Archery on the limbs of bows) to get rid of the buzziness. I don't really hear it when I have my helmet on though (Shoei RF-SR).

As far as the Quckset hardware...it blows. It stripped out super easy during install. It's probably my fault but I wouldn't consider it a durable product if you plan on taking it on and off with any kind of frequency. It also doesn't allow as much adjustment as the U-clamp hardware. I ended up ditching the Quickset hardware and buying the U-Clamp hardware direct from National Cycle. I didn't even bother trying to get the Quickset hardware replaced under warranty. The U-clamp hardware was not cheap so be mindful if you decide to make the switch later.
