One of the best systems for riding the thunderstorms
Used this on my cross-country trip from NYC to KeyWest to Deadhorse Alaska and it did not let a single drop of water penetrate. Combine this with the solo pants and you can ride through thunderstorms and come out dry on the other end. The internal mesh lining helps with air circulation so that you don't sweat like some of the other systems I have tested in the past. Comfortably fits over my riding gear and folds into the back pocket so you don't have to carry a separate pouch for it, you can also roll the pants along with the jacket for a single pack that you can throw in your bag and go riding to your heart's content.
Best rain jacket at an excellent price
Excellent rain protection. I just rode an hour in pouring rain on the highway, and stayed dry. The jacket is baggy enough so I can wear my leather jacket underneath, and the sleeves are long enough so the cuffs are in the right position. The hood prevented any water from rolling down my back. The jacket is long and there are draw strings so I could make it tight on the bottom.
I bought these to replace an old rain suit I had that was more "resistant". I got a chance to ride in some heavy rain around town - I did about 20 miles or so and the jacket kept me dry. It was much bigger than I thought it would be for an XL. Fits probably more like a 3XL, but that will be good for when I put it over my leather jacket.
Only way this could be better is if there was a way to keep the super long sleeves up to they are a little shorter, or smaller and not flapping in the wind (maybe something like what the pants have at the bottom)
Great fit
Just received the stormrider rain jacket. It was well packaged and arrived a day early. The jacket has a high grade material feel to it.
I'm 5' 10" and weigh 210. I usually wear an XL in a jacket. I ordered the large and it fits very well. Plenty of room for a sweatshirt or jacket underneath. It will even fit well with just a tee shirt, just tighten the straps and velcro. It is very comfortable.
I have not worn it in the rain yet, but I believe it will do just fine.
Questionable quality
Two things I don't like about the jacket. On the very first day I used it, there was a thread hanging along side the hook and loop material which would be used to secure a flap of material over the length of the zipper. Since it was a long thread I gave it a tug so I could cut it off. Turns out about 6 inches of the hook and loop material became detached from the jacket. So I would say the jacket has dubious quality issues. The other thing I had a problem with is that the jacket is not breathable and doesn't really vent well, making the the jacket hot and sweaty while using it in warm weather. Of course, I didn't expect "breathable" at this price, but had hoped for better venting. Otherwise, it's a good looking jacket and fits well. The second day of use was a very wet day with heavier rains. When sitting on the bike, the jacket was somewhat bunched up which created "channels" for the rain to accumulate. Occasionally that water would run thru the flap, then the zipper and soaking my shirt. I'm not sure if that problem was a result of the unsecured Velco on the flap.
Quality at its best
Looks even better in hand the picture does no justice for the quality of the jacket stayed bone dry even after 20 mile ride at 75 in the rain I would absolutely recommend that you buy this I have the pants and the boot covers all sold by same company top quality
Does what it's supposed to.
Been caught in the rain a couple times with this. It does what it's supposed to, by keeping you dry, and still has decent breathability. The material is very thin and rips easily.
I have not used the jacket yet but believe it will work fine. I like it's style and features. The pants work and fit fine.
Good quality, fits a little large. I was pleased with it.
Definately on the big side
These run large. I normally wear a men's medium. The small has plenty of room to go over my riding cloths. The stitching looks sketchy with loose threads.
best rain gear for the money.
Quality product with a lot of extras to make it the Best rain gear for the price.
Excellent.
Just what I wanted for writing and wet weather or cold weather as a layer over my regular riding jacket. Is a bit large, but that's how I wanted it so it would fit over my other jacket without being too tight. Purchase the high viz. version.
Like it so far
Have yet to wear it in the rain, but it appears well made. I'm happy with the purchase.
Beautiful jacket and fits perfect.Bought one size lower than I normally wear.
Great jacket, nice features, runs a large
Love the fit and features of this, but found that it does run very large. I would recommend ordering at least one size down.
Seems to be well made
It's December in Massachusetts so I've yet to wear it. It's a Christmas present to myself! i tried it on and it seems to be well made. Think Spring!!
Torn
Seems to work well, however, mine has torn stitching in the shoulder seam right out of the box.
Still waiting for jacket
I would be happy to rate them higher, but I have not received the jacket as of 11 Aug. I placed the order for pants and jacket as one order 13 Jul and received the pants a couple weeks ago. I would have thought they would be shipped together, but they shipped from separate locations. One shipped by air the other one I believe is on cargo ship. I was hoping to have the jacket for a 8 day trip riding northern Hokkaido, Japan at the end of the month.
Haven't had to use it yet, but it looks good.
Only gripe I have is that I wish it will pack up a little smaller
Good Quality
Great fit and Quality. I bought the medium and the fit is great over my riding gear.
Small to store and will keep you dry within reason.
I was on a 5k mile trip and got hit with three days of rain. This jacket work as described. It kept me dry. I bought it because it was small and easy and small to store. I was pleasantly surprised. I was riding with a buddy that had a $1,400 bib system but when we stopped I suspect I was just as dry as he was and could stuff the jacket and pants into a crevice in my packs compared to his.
Medium fits a Large guy
just got this coat. never used but i tried it on and i am very satisfied. The important thing to me to say here is that if you normally wear a Large, just order the Medium, like i did. I hate blousy rain jackets that whip around in the wind. My extra large will never be worn again. I have plenty of room under this coat for a sweat shirt or similar coat if the weather turned a bit chilly. Great Coat.
Warm and dry
This jacket is fantastic. I used it in heavy rains over many miles and it kept me dry and warm. Also, it works as an excellent windbreaker on colder days.
Fit well and is as advertised
