About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Upgrade your Harley-Davidson's rear suspension with Progressive 412 Cruise shocks. These shocks deliver a lowered stance without sacrificing ride quality, thanks to a unique dual-spring design. Experience improved handling and a custom look for your V-twin.

Why riders pick this

  • Achieves a lowered stance with full suspension travel
  • Dual-spring design for a smooth and controlled ride
  • Five-position preload adjustment for fine-tuning
  • Gas-charged for consistent damping performance
  • Durable black powdercoat finish

Progressive 412 Cruise shocks are engineered to give your Harley-Davidson a lower profile while maintaining excellent suspension travel. The innovative combination of a flat-wire spring and a progressive main spring allows the 12.5-inch shock to sit like an 11.5-inch unit when loaded, yet still utilize its full stroke when encountering varied terrain. This means you get the best of both worlds: a custom lowered look and the performance needed for real-world riding.

Optimized Ride and Stance

  • Achieves a lowered look without compromising full suspension travel
  • Dual-spring design for a smooth ride and effective damping
  • Five-position preload adjustment to fine-tune your ride
  • Gas-charged damper for consistent performance
  • Durable black powdercoat finish for a stealthy appearance

Dial In Your Ride

Whether you're cruising city streets or tackling twisty roads, the Progressive 412 Cruise shocks offer the adjustability to match your riding style. The five-position preload adjuster makes it easy to dial in the spring rate, ensuring optimal comfort and control for solo rides or when carrying a passenger and gear. These shocks are a solid upgrade for any Harley-Davidson owner looking to enhance both the aesthetics and performance of their motorcycle.

Common questions

What is the effective ride height of these shocks?

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
