Frequently Asked Questions

What does the 5-position preload adjuster do?

Lets you dial in ride height and stiffness to match your weight and riding preference — light riders can soften, heavier riders can stiffen.

Are these shocks valved the same front and rear?

The 412 Series uses multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving tuned for consistent damping. Confirm left/right orientation when installing.

Do these come with Show Chrome covers?

Standard 412 shocks ship bare. Optional Show Chrome covers are available on select model applications — check fitment before ordering.

How often do these need service?

Progressive gas-charged shocks are sealed and maintenance-free. Inspect for leaks during routine maintenance; replace if damaged.

Will these improve my ride compared to stock shocks?

Yes — the progressive-rate spring and velocity-sensitive damping provide smoother, more consistent performance than most OEM Harley shocks.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
