About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Progressive 412 Series shocks are engineered to deliver consistent suspension performance with a durable double-wall steel body and nitrogen-charged, multi-stage velocity-sensitive damping. These shocks provide a significant upgrade over factory units, enhancing both comfort and control on your Harley-Davidson.

Why riders pick this

  • Durable double-wall steel construction for long life
  • Nitrogen-charged for consistent damping performance
  • Multi-stage velocity-sensitive damping smooths out bumps
  • Five-position cam-style preload adjuster for easy tuning
  • Progressive-rate springs enhance ride comfort

The 412 Series shocks from Progressive Suspension offer a robust solution for riders looking to improve their Harley's handling and ride quality. With their proven design, these shocks smooth out road imperfections without introducing the harshness often found with conventional suspension setups. Riders can easily dial in their preferred ride for solo cruising or two-up touring.

Adjustable Performance for Any Ride

  • Double-wall steel damper body ensures long-lasting durability
  • High-pressure nitrogen charging maintains consistent damping performance
  • Multi-stage velocity-sensitive damping adapts to varying road conditions
  • Five-position cam-style preload adjuster for quick, tool-free tuning
  • Progressive-rate springs absorb bumps smoothly

Built for the Road Ahead

Whether you're hitting the open highway or navigating city streets, the Progressive 412 shocks are designed to provide a more controlled and comfortable experience. Their straightforward adjustability makes it easy to fine-tune your suspension for different loads or riding styles, ensuring your Harley-Davidson performs optimally in any situation. These shocks are a solid foundation for any V-twin performance build.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
