About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Progressive 412 Series shocks offer Harley-Davidson riders a significant suspension upgrade at a budget-friendly price point. These shocks provide smooth, consistent damping and the ability to fine-tune your ride for comfort and control.

Why riders pick this

  • Smooth, consistent damping from nitrogen-charged valving
  • Durable double-wall steel damper construction
  • Five-position cam preload adjuster for quick tuning
  • Progressive-rate springs for improved ride quality
  • Reliable suspension upgrade for Harley-Davidson models

Uncork the ride quality of your Harley-Davidson with Progressive 412 Series shocks. Engineered with a double-wall steel damper body and nitrogen-charged, multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving, these shocks deliver reliable performance across various riding conditions. Whether you're cruising solo or loaded down, the 412 Series provides a noticeable improvement over stock.

Performance You Can Feel

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
