About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

The Progressive 412 Series shocks are engineered to deliver consistent suspension performance for your Harley-Davidson. Featuring a robust design and advanced valving, these shocks are built to handle the demands of the open road. Riders looking for improved handling and a more comfortable journey will appreciate the capabilities of the 412 Series.

Why riders pick this

  • Consistent suspension performance with nitrogen charging
  • Multi-stage valving for responsive damping
  • Easily adjustable 5-position preload
  • Durable double-wall steel construction
  • Available in chrome or black finishes

Upgrade your Harley-Davidson's rear suspension with the proven performance of Progressive 412 Series shocks. These shocks are constructed with a durable double-wall steel body and utilize high-pressure nitrogen gas charging, ensuring consistent damping across a wide range of riding conditions. The multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving is designed to react effectively to bumps and imperfections, providing a smoother and more controlled ride.

Tunable Performance

Engineered for the Road

The 412 Series shocks offer a significant improvement over stock units, allowing you to tailor your suspension to your specific needs. The 5-position cam-style preload adjuster makes it simple to adjust for solo riding, two-up, or when carrying extra gear, ensuring your bike remains stable and comfortable. Choose between standard or heavy-duty spring rates to perfectly match your riding style and load requirements, providing a confident feel mile after mile.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
