About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

The Progressive 412 Series shocks offer tunable suspension performance for your Harley-Davidson, blending durability with responsive damping. Built to smooth out the ride, these shocks allow you to dial in the perfect feel for your weight and preferred riding style. They are an excellent choice for riders seeking a more planted and comfortable experience.

Why riders pick this

  • Tunable damping with velocity-sensitive valving
  • Adjustable 5-position cam preload
  • Progressive rate springs for optimal support
  • Rugged double-wall steel construction
  • Enhanced comfort and stability for your V-twin

Experience a new level of ride quality on your Harley-Davidson with Progressive 412 Series shocks. Each shock features a robust double-wall steel body and nitrogen-charged, velocity-sensitive damping, ensuring consistent performance and a controlled ride. Whether you're navigating city streets or carving through backroads, these shocks are designed to reduce harshness and improve stability, making every mile more enjoyable.

Precision Tunability

  • Nitrogen-charged, multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving for responsive damping
  • 5-position cam-style preload adjuster for easy ride tuning
  • Standard or heavy-duty progressive rate springs available
  • Durable double-wall steel damper body
  • Available in chrome or black finishes

Engineered for Your Ride

The 412 Series shocks allow you to fine-tune your suspension with a convenient 5-position preload adjuster, letting you quickly adapt to changes in load or riding conditions. With progressive rate springs, you get a plush initial feel that progressively stiffens to prevent bottoming out, providing optimal support and comfort. Choose the finish that best complements your bike's aesthetic, and enjoy a ride that feels custom-tailored to you.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
