About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Progressive 412 Series shocks deliver consistent damping and a smooth ride with their robust double-wall steel construction and nitrogen-charged, multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving. A five-position cam-style preload adjuster lets you tune for your weight and riding style, ensuring optimal performance on your Harley-Davidson.

Why riders pick this

  • Consistent damping for a smooth ride
  • Durable double-wall steel construction
  • Nitrogen-charged for fade resistance
  • Multi-stage velocity-sensitive damping
  • Five-position cam-style preload adjustment

Riders looking for a proven upgrade to their Harley-Davidson's suspension will find the Progressive 412 Series shocks a reliable choice. These shocks are built to provide a more controlled and comfortable experience, absorbing road imperfections more effectively than stock units. They are a solid foundation for any rider seeking improved handling and a better connection to the road.

Built for V-Twin Performance

  • Double-wall steel damper body for enhanced durability
  • High-pressure nitrogen gas charging maintains consistent damping
  • Multi-stage velocity-sensitive damping adapts to varying conditions
  • Five-position cam-style preload adjuster for quick tuning
  • Progressive-rate spring options available in standard or heavy-duty

Personalized Ride Tuning

The ability to personalize your ride is a significant benefit of the 412 Series. With the accessible five-position cam-style preload adjuster, you can easily set the sag and stiffness to match your specific needs, whether you're riding solo, with a passenger, or carrying extra gear. This adjustability ensures your Harley-Davidson responds precisely how you want it to, enhancing both comfort and confidence.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
