Frequently Asked Questions

How do I adjust the preload without dropping the frame?

The remote adjustable preload knob is conveniently located behind the left passenger peg, allowing one-hand tuning while seated or standing.

Can I lower my Softail with these shocks?

Yes — ride height is adjustable from stock to 2 inches lower, giving you control over the bike's stance.

What's the difference between Standard and Heavy Duty?

Standard shocks are tuned for stock weight and typical riding. Heavy Duty versions handle higher loads, luggage, and frequent passenger riding.

Will these fit my 2018+ Softail?

No — this part number is specific to 2000-2017 Softail. 2018 and newer Softail models use a different frame and shock design.

Do I need a new rear fender or bodywork?

Lowering the bike 2 inches may require fender trim or spacer adjustment depending on tire size and rim width. Check clearance before riding.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
