About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Progressive 444 Series shocks for Harley-Davidson motorcycles integrate Frequency Sensing Technology (FST) to provide dynamic, real-time damping adjustments. This innovative system ensures consistent comfort by effectively absorbing both small road imperfections and larger impacts.

Why riders pick this

  • FST automatically adjusts damping to bump frequency
  • Deflective disc valve design for progressive damping
  • Progressive-rate spring for consistent comfort
  • Hand-adjustable preload, no special tools needed
  • Available in standard or heavy-duty spring rates

Elevate your riding experience with these advanced suspension components. The FST system works tirelessly to adapt to the road beneath you, delivering a plush and controlled ride that minimizes harshness and maximizes stability. Whether you're navigating city streets or cruising open highways, your Harley-Davidson will feel more planted and responsive.

Responsive Damping for Optimal Performance

  • Frequency Sensing Technology (FST) automatically adjusts damping based on bump frequency
  • Deflective disc valve design provides precise, progressive damping
  • Progressive-rate spring offers consistent support and comfort
  • Hand-adjustable preload allows for easy, tool-free suspension tuning

Tailored for Your Ride

The 444 Series shocks are built for customization and performance. With hand-adjustable preload and the option for standard or heavy-duty spring rates, you can fine-tune your suspension to perfectly match your riding style, load, and road conditions. Choose between black or chrome finishes to complement your Harley-Davidson's aesthetic, ensuring both superior function and form.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
