Frequently Asked Questions

How do I adjust the preload without removing the shocks?

The R.A.P. mounting bracket includes an adjustment knob for quick hand adjustment of preload — no tools or removal needed.

What length shock do I need for my Softail?

The 465 comes in four lengths: 12.2 in (stock ride height), 12.6 in, 13.1 in, and 13.5 in (raised). Longer shocks raise the bike 0.8–1 in per size increment.

Can I adjust rebound damping?

Yes. The 5-position rotatable rebound adjuster lets you fine-tune damping to match your riding style and load.

Are these shocks dyno-tested?

Yes. Every 465 shock is hand-built, tuned, and dyno-tested before shipment to ensure performance consistency.

What warranty do these carry?

Limited Lifetime Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
