About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Unleash the full potential of your Milwaukee-Eight Softail with Progressive 465 Series R.A.P. shocks. These high-pressure gas monotube units are engineered for performance, offering precise handling and a tunable ride.

Why riders pick this

  • Improve handling and ride comfort on your M8 Softail
  • Remote Adjustable Preload (R.A.P.) for easy tuning
  • Five-position rebound damping for precise control
  • Available in multiple lengths for custom ride height
  • Durable high-pressure gas monotube construction

Experience a significant upgrade in ride quality and control for your M8 Softail. The Progressive 465 Series R.A.P. shocks are designed to replace your factory units with a performance-oriented suspension system that's both adjustable and durable. Dial in your preferred ride height and damping characteristics to match your riding style and road conditions.

Precision Tuning for Your Ride

  • 46mm bore high-pressure gas monotube design for consistent damping
  • Remote Adjustable Preload (R.A.P.) knob for quick, tool-free preload changes
  • Five-position rotatable rebound damping adjuster to fine-tune your ride
  • Available in multiple lengths to achieve your desired stance
  • Robust 16mm hard chrome shaft with Viton seals for long-lasting performance

Engineered for the Road

Each 465 Series R.A.P. shock is hand-built, tuned, and dyno-tested to ensure optimal performance right out of the box. Whether you're chasing a more aggressive stance or simply want a more controlled and comfortable ride, these shocks provide the adjustability needed. Pair them with a front-end suspension upgrade for a truly balanced setup.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
